Rawnrawn Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) As of now we have level ranges on planets depending on how close to the boss nodes they are, no planet has got the same level range as another, however with the release of Jupiter tileset and then Earth recreational and adventorous players veterans as rookies has felt the need to explore these tilesets, but the mission ranges on Earth are meant for rookies, and Jupiter meant for mid ranked equipment. What if you could set the level ranges yourself for each node you're going to do a mission in, want a cicero toxin injector sabotage mission on Earth with grineer starting at level 30? No problem, wanna fight a really high levelled Jackal? Sure! etc. etc. The next step would be to make resource and credit gain to scale with levels so that it's more rewarding to do these missions on a higher level for more reasons than possibly higher mod rarity gain. I just wanna play through these beautifully created tilesets in my own soft pace without needing to nerf myself. DE pls? :3 PS: input and/or other ideas would be appreciated. Tesseract_The_Pariah Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 They're already replacing the solar map entirely. I suspect Rebecca The Lotus herself will explain, since she's reading this topic...
Shinobi-kun Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Challenge being considered. If it doesn't pass the papers...I'm sure DE will overlook us repeating this beneficial suggestion, helps make the game more interactive and tire less quickly. Oh, the Honorable Lotus was merely passing through? Achievement unlocked: 'Passing Wind'. Edited April 24, 2014 by Shinobi-kun

Replacing? As in repurposing the unlocking order? Well I guess we're gonna have to wait and see then. Challenge being considered. Well they already have a level scaling with player numbers, however this can be a much better alternative as it is more straight foward and doesn't need more complex coding.
Jordio99 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 If you decided the levels yourself, it would be very hard to find a squad since everyone would be starting with a different level (unless you were with some friends).

Then it would be better to pick a mission type and then choose an appropriate level bracket, with higher levels bringing more drops and (of course) more XP. Edited April 24, 2014 by Dualstar
OTTERMATIC Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I think what they are working on is making levels scale to the player(s) level. Instead of planets getting progressively harder as you get further on, the planets get progressively harder as your equipment (and hopefully your actual skill level) gets better.

I think you misunderstood what DE meant when they said the words "...death/removal of the starchart." When this was said, it was in reference to the upcoming Hubs. These Hubs would act as your portal into missions, or at least that's what DE has planned for it. This does not mean that the nodes and planets are going away, it simply means that you'll be spawning in a big space station full of other Tenno near a given planet where you can connect with these other Tenno and jump into missions - rather than floating on a blue disk in the middle of space staring down at the star chart itself like we do now. So, assuming that's true, the nodes themselves on the startchart likely won't change at all, and therefore the OP's idea is still relevant. Edited April 24, 2014 by DJ_Redwire

Oh ok, so rather than, for example, clicking on "Xini" you would just click "Defesne, Level 20+". I like that quite a lot, but then it might look like there is not much to do in the game. For new players, they would just be clicking on "Exterminate, level 2+" or something like that, which shows no progression at all. Whereas on the star map, where you can see how many missions you have done and what planet you are on.

I was thinking you picked the planet, then the mission type, and then a level bracket. Pogression is an issue, but one that can be solved by having a minimum level bracket for each planet. Mercury and Venus would still be the noob caves, but Ceres and Pluto would be starting at lvl30 and only be going higher. Edited April 24, 2014 by Dualstar

I don't know why I assumed you meant what I went on to talk about - I just kind of had that idea and went with it :P. Having the minimum brackets would be great, because then you would still easily find a squad by just going for the minimum bracket, because there will surely be people running that just for map progression. Then, for doing high level games, you could get some friends (or random people from recruiting) and choose a much higher bracket.
