Psycho1848 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Hi, i played a few times defense Mssions the last days against Infested and every (really every) Round i have a Hydroid with me. The Hydroid spams every Time his ulti and the rounds gets longer and longer... the big range of it stopped the enemy but dont kill them are they above lvl 20 (same with Undertow and that one save them from dmg of other players for 10sec. or more btw). Now my question: Do you think too thats the abilitys need a dmg buff? (i have always to wait to kill the enemys and that can´t be the purpose of his abilitys or i´m wrong?)
blwf Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Personally i use the undertow as a means of storing the enemies and releasing them for a hack and slash fest . But I've also used them to guard the pod in a defense mission while the other players revive anyone who's down or place the undertow under the downed player while the others revive that player to protect them(only works in infested or enemies who have been radial disarmed btw) .
Aver Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 you can shoot the things that are being flayed by the tentacles, though the stuff in his pool yea =/ im kinda hoping DE does something like let us shoot the pool or something to help speed up the dying process
Scr4mp Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I found a counter against hydroids using their undertow at the pod in an ODD. It's the booben vortex :D Throw it on the pod and the enemies will get draged out of the undertow and can get killed by a penta or such. For the ulti thing, a hydroid should use a maxed out narrow minded, that way the area in wich the tentacles spawn is very small and you can use a penta to dmg all enemies trapped in the tentacles. You can also concentrate the tentacles around the pod making it a better CC. But yeah besides that, hydroids are a pain in the &#! and a dmg buff wont fix this.
SpilockT_T Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 For me, Hydroid is basically a CC frame.. I don't think his powers needs dmg buff.
blwf Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 although his tidal surge could use some reworking . like pushing other frames along for mobility use . pushing enemies in the direction you're going and ect.
Arxiun Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Thats why I like Frost's Ult, If it doesn't kill then it at least leaves them where you can kill them, and always keeps them within slashing distance :D

I don't think his powers needs dmg buff. Its not really a good cc for me the enemys are limited with tentacle swarm and u can cast just one at the same time. Undertow as cc? Maybe for Missions with a object and weaponless enemys like Infested def Missions
AbaliskInfinite Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I thought Tentacle Swarm did insane damage.
AhziDahaka Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Hydroid is kind of a "set and forget" choke point crowd control frame. You place his long-duration powers at key chokepoints to keep enemies from getting through, allowing the rest of the team to focus their fire on other areas in the meantime. I admit it probably can be a pain to hit targets getting flailed about by tentacles, though, but again the idea is to be freed up from having to cover that area so you can focus on other areas first. Undertow is an easy ability to use poorly, but it can be used to pretty fantastic effect, too. It's great for, again, placing in chokepoints to gather enemies up into one spot (and allow other players to focus on other areas), and then letting them loose just to slaughter them en masse. I personally like placing Castanas and then blowing the enemies up all at once upon leaving puddle form. The only time that doesn't work well is when your teammates insist on dancing on top of your puddle and pile of castanas to engage the enemy there instead of dealing with the stream of enemies approaching the cryopod from another direction, which sadly happens far too much in my experience. Even Hydroid's first ability is a handy crowd control due to its sheer potential duration and tendency to knock down enemies. Considering how useful all his abilities are in that regard, the fact they do pretty good damage is icing on the cake.
Psycho1848 Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) I thought Tentacle Swarm did insane damage. Tentacle Swarm without other Mods like Blind Rage deals overall 4300dmg in 20sec. and that kills nothing (ok its enough for low level enemys but thats all). I have Weapons that make the dmg twice and more in 1sec. Edited April 26, 2014 by Psycho1848
SolidSp33d Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Can you choose to exit the pool when you want? If not you should be able to. And maybe a command to make all the tentacles slam the current enemies they hold to the ground would be cool.

Spliffy_McGee Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Having seen nothing but puddles and tentacles before building my Hydroid, I've solemnly vowed to only use his first two skills. Srsly tho, puddle pisses me off.
Kuestenjung Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) you can shoot the things that are being flayed by the tentacles, though the stuff in his pool yea =/ im kinda hoping DE does something like let us shoot the pool or something to help speed up the dying process Why should they, it´s working as intended and it´s working great if you play as a team. For example, I played with my clan ODD, using undertow to "collect" almost all infested, released them and another one shot with the Ogris, that doesn´t take longer as killing them one after another but you uses less ammo. I think the biggest problem is, that most people don´t know that you can get out of the puddle at every time. Edited April 26, 2014 by Kuestenjung
Pendragon1951 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 And there in lies the problem, the same beef they have with Nova, it's all about how many kills can I get before the other guy, it's not about teamwork or strategy.
