Which To Potato, Volt, Valkyr, Or Oberon?

Question

Posted

I have one free orokin reactor left (free as in acquired from alerts). I want to stick it on one of these three frames, and which do you think I should go with?

(Yes, I played with valkyr already and I'm going to play through the other two, but I'd like outside opinions too)

I'd say play with them all first. I potatoed oberon before he hit 30, but in general, my rule of thumb is not to potato something until you've fully ranked it up. by then you've had some good exposure to it

then potato whichever one you like most. I really disliked valkyr, but she seems to be a popular one these days (case in point, see above). but they can all be useful and strong

I have Volt as he was my starter and he's a fun frame to play for a while with the way Electric shield works with some weapons and the melee buff on Speed but he is slow and his damage falls off.

Crafted Oberon in the first week of the update and got him to 30 rather quickly , didn't use his 1 and 2 abilities and I still don't , you can be  helpful against bleed proc and toxin but that's about it , 4 inst' impressive either , I keep him mostly for his cosmetic helmets that look awesome and to go on Alert/Event things when I wont know my team so Oberon brings a bit of everything

Don't have space for more frames so cant' talk about Valkyr.

I would say if you like being a team player, got for volt for his shield, squad speed buff, and amazing cc you can get from shock.  If you like being a bit more passive with helping the team, choose Oberon as he can provide some-what acceptable cc for most situations, along with the team heal.  If you want to play as a solo melee tank, then go Valkyr.  I have maxed all three frames, put at least one forma on each, and I find that I use volt more than the others.  If you want a tank role, I would recommend Trinity (nerf incoming so be cautious).  Oberon does not work well for min-maxing his build, Volt can be min-maxed for either squad speed, chain cc or even a mobile sniper nest style build.  Valkyr can be min-maxed for either a solo melee tank, or a somewhat durable agility frame due to rip-line.  I would wait to see was DE does with Valkyr before you super charge any of them.

Personally I think Oberon, i know a lot of people will dump on him but i his ultimate is fun to use and does some pretty respectable damage, it does become pretty useless fast in the much higher levels but no more so than most abilities of the other two frames on offer here, his healing can also be a great asset to you and your team i personally i find him quite fun to use. That's not to say the other two are bad or even objectively worse than him, but personally speaking, i find valkyr impractical for most missions and as soon as the high level heavies come out and her ultimate takes half its duration to kill even one, forcing you into gun play again, her stat layout is more of a hindrance. Volt is quite fun and his electric shield can be quite an asset in the higher level missions, I still kind of recommend oberon over him, because once their damage mutually stops one shotting, that extra healing is much more valuable than instant cover, which you can usually find in most rooms anyway.

Valkyr

600 base armor

Ultimate grants invincibility and health regen

Rip Line

the middle too point seem redundant. just say:

DE forgot to take developer settings off of just this warframe

Volt is epic and isn't just a "press this key for invincibility" frame.

Speed = Faster movement, fire rate and melee attack speed. Awesome.

Electric Shield = Semi portable damage boost which turns weapons hitscan/removes shotgun damage falloff.

Shock = Stunlock enemies from across the map, perfect for snipers and bows.

Overload = The lease useful of the 4 but good for speed running things.

All three are unimpressive, especially for endgame, so I'd keep the potato personally, unless you decide you really like one.

So potato the one you like, I guess.

Volt can do a decent speed build, and Valkyr can fit Vital and Rage, which is all she really needs, without potatoes. Oberon is fun at lower levels but falls off HARD at high level play.
