Tarille Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Basically the title. For those whom aren't familiar with Pseudo Random Chance - It essentially boils down to creating a specific chance of an event occurring by increasing the chance of said event happening until it does occur. It then reduces the chance of said event occurring (Though not preventing it). What effect would this have on Life Support Units? It would give RNG protection to them, meaning that you are unlikely to have to extract early because you just flat out didn't get any units to drop. - This makes doing Survivals more consistent and focused more on actually surviving rather than needing to gamble on RNG (Even runs with Nekros can infact be screwed over by lack of unit drops) On the other hand, Pseudo Random Chance reduces the chances of being spammed by lots of units at a time - Making Nekros slightly less useful (Though still useful as there's always the chance for more). As pseudo random chance is better than regular random chance at maintaining a specific percentage, it would also make it possible to tune the chance to a enable specific times as baseline (I.E. Not accounting for Nekros, higher than average kill rates etc) - Allowing for things like Solo to have a higher chance to allow for consistent 30 minute runs for example or 4 man teams to have consistent 40/50/60 minute runs.

Guest Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 PRNG is the industry norm now, no? Don't think so, but informed developers that care about fair chances for all players will probably begin taking this route more and more.
SolidSp33d Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 PRNG is the industry norm now, no? Definitely not. It's just used for some things depending on the situation. For a gametype like survival it would help. To an extent of course.
