How Does Invasions And Lore Work Together?

There is no discretion in invasions at all, every node except the boss node can get taken over completely by the enemy side, It just seems strange how in 1 day Saturn goes from a Grineer stronghold with elite troopers to a Corpus Bazaar, or how Neptune; current "HQ" of the Corpus is half Grineer now, and of course Ceres, it's really nice of the corpus to help protect the Grineer fomorian cores while they are preparing a counter attack.

IMO invasions should only happen on the side nodes, not the "main" path to the boss node.

You don't think the Corpus would have a use for the cores? Heck think of how much they can make the Grineer pay to get them back.

Edit: And as for how it switches hands so quickly in one day? Mass murdering weapons of destruction called Tenno. It's all us man.

I think the Invasion are present to 'animate' the whole power shift (and conflict. And Drama!) in the solar system.

You know, like Skyrim with the actual civil war stuff in background, even before you activate the Civil War quest

Lore-wise, this could be souped way up once the art team gets free time. Using the same tech that they use to add fire and ice decals, they could add opposite faction decals on occupied tile sets so that consoles and text are replaced, in addition to certain structures being reconstructed, or in a state of partial reconstruction.

I don't know about reconstruction, but some kind of vandalism/tagging would be neat to see - Grineer language insults scrawled on the walls, for example.

That's assuming that the rank and file Grineer are actually literate.

A point against written word, but there COULD, maybe, be insulting caricatures of Corpus crudely painted.

Alternatively: the Corpus could be just painting over the Grineer language written about the Galleons, and a few Moa Dispeners could be built around too, maybe.
