Samoth95 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Note: Names and physical descriptions found herein of Frames, Enemies, etc. are work-in-progress names. Also, long post incoming. So the other day I was zoning out and had come up with an idea for a new warframe. That spurred this whole notion, but I'll get back to him later. I had to figure out HOW we got this new one (whom I'll refer to for now as Pulsar) when I had an epiphany...a new planet and tileset for the Corpus. (Trust me, once I explain the frame's abilities this will make sense) So, the tileset would be Corpus Research Labs (Perhaps referred to as the Corpus R&D or something). It would be accessed from Neptune (canonically on one of its moons...which ones doesn't matter beyond the whole "something that hasn't been used" idea), possibly from that one long horizontal string of nodes stretching off into nothingness. The maps would be sort of like the ice planet tileset, but more focused on the insides of buildings. It'd look more high-tech and some rooms would feature facilities in the process of producing moas. (Also, these rooms wouldn't be super large...that'd help give new content that doesn't murder fps) However! These moas aren't just any moas...they're new, bigger and badder than ever. They'd be called Gauss Moas. They're basically like souped-up versions of the Railgun Moa: beam shot, but faster and slightly more damaging. To help balance this their laser blasts wouldn't stagger. There would also be a new Corpus human enemy, perhaps wearing purple. Whatever new color we add to the Corpus Ranger team, he'd be called Corpus Researcher. He would be using a new weapon that is released alongside the tileset (perhaps a laser rifle like what the Gauss Moa can do except faster shots with slightly less damage or something). As for a boss, I've really got nothing. All I could think of (given Melee 2.0) is a Corpus crewman who uses a lightsaber (another new edition with the update, perhaps a katana base since we'd be able to get it too) and who uses Radial Disarm to force you into melee combat. (As a gesture of fairness, he'd be alone in the room so you don't have other Corpus unfairly gunning you down but once you're in it's like a cockroach motel until he dies...no way out.) So, with the idea of the tileset fleshed out...onto Pulsar again! Pulsar, whether a male or a female frame (not too worried about its gender), Pulsar's main focus would be LASERS. I had come up with ideas for an ability set for Pulsar to use... 1. Ion Cannon - Think like Tony Stark/Goku/anyone in any anime who uses laser attacks ever. This ability causes Pulsar to stop, raise a hand towards the aiming reticule, and fire a blast. It would last a few seconds, and pierce all enemies in its path (though not terrain beyond slight cover). Leveling would increase the damage of the skill. 2. Refraction - This ability is a group buff. Pulsar and any allies in range will be given a buff that, for a short time, allows their bodies to reflect any bullets shot at them. These bullets do less damage (mitigation boosted by leveling the mod) and have a chance to ricochet into enemies (if coding ricochets would be too tough, perhaps it would cause them to reflect back at the attacker for the damage mitigated by the mod). 3. Sentry - This ability causes Pulsar to stop, float a bit into the air, and suddenly resemble the laser orbs of the Void. 4 Laser beams shoot out of Pulsar (1 from each hand, 1 from chest/1 from back), and then Pulsar begins to rotate. These laser blasts, unlike the turrets of void defense, do not hurt allies. This would also reduce damage Pulsar takes while the ability is active. Leveling this mod increases damage mitigation, duration, and damage. 4. Eradication - The big guns. Pulsar stops in place and summons a MASSIVE laser out of the ground below, creating a column of pure laser-y goodness shooting straight upwards. Allies would be able to see through the laser beam, and any enemies in the beam get caught in a severe DoT for the duration of the attack (we're talking lethal DoT here). Leveling would increase the range, duration, and damage of the mod. As far as physical looks, all I can really think of would be two circles in the palms of the frame (again, like Tony Stark's Iron Man) and maybe two more where the other two lasers come out for Sentry. These would change in color based on the selected Energy palette. I've got nothing beyond that. TL;DR - New Corpus tileset branching off from Neptune, Corpus Research Facility. New Corpus human enemy w/railgun of sorts, new Gauss Moa that is beefed up Railgun Moa. Boss is like a Corpus version of Tyl Regor who forces you to use melee. Frame from this is Pulsar (work-in-progress name), who uses lots and lots of lasers both offensively and defensively. That pretty much sums up my ideas for this tileset/frame. Looking forward to feedback from others. ^_^ Edited April 29, 2014 by Samoth95
Jeloxale Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 The idea seems good and laser frame sounds nifty but needs some tweaking. A Purple crewman with lasergun? You must be talking about the Elite Crewmen. Researcher? We have Tech. No new moas please, DE got problems with current ones as they sneak into the hamster ball time to time. Melee boss for Corpus? Decent idea, but I call you didn't think this one trough. I think we already have new C-tileset incoming.
Catharsis25 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I agree with Jeloxale. There are plenty of small, enclosed tilesets. I want a place with no ceiling to fly my Zephyr around. Without being killed by DE's invisible spiked ceilings of doom. As for the frame, I like the idea of more attacks that can be guided after firing, but some of these just feel a little too limited. How about putting DE's physics engine to work and have one of her powers bounce off of reflective surfaces for the sick bank-shots? Just imagine 6 lasers coming out of Pulsar and bouncing all over the place, slicing and dicing things to bits. Like a lethal light-show. Just spit-balling.
