Tyflos Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I really liked the way Warframe looked, but these changes are annoyingly off-putting. Volt's chains of lightning, both from Shock and Overload, now look like 2D pieces of cutout paper. Arc traps still use the old lightning, meaning environmental traps have better effects than a player's abilities. Fire from Ember and Ignis look like opaque mustard clouds. Blood spatter from being hit looks thin, like distilled fruit punch. Hydroid's coat/tabard moves and sways in the front, but is stiff in the back. Some textures have been blurried, and, at least in the Void, environments were lacking shadows and definition. My computer is good enough to run Warframe as it was on the highest settings before U13.2.0 came in and decreased the quality of all these settings. The game looked great before, and now many aspects feel as though I've got the wrong resolution or that some setting has been secretly disabled. Worse yet, some of these changes in quality are incongruous, as with Hydroid's different cloth physics and Volt's electricity in comparison to arc traps. It doesn't make sense to lower the quality of one and keep the other. My question is this: if people needed better performance, why drastically lower the quality of many effects for EVERYONE? Couldn't someone lower their own quality settings as an individual? And if that doesn't work, couldn't you keep a "Very High" or "Highest" setting to keep in all those nice visuals that you worked hard to make? Performance was never an issue for me, but this drop in quality is. I understand that not everyone can run Warframe with those effects, but some people can. Please, reinstate those effects - either globally, or as a higher quality setting for those who can run it and elect to do so.
Astares_Thanatos Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Make this an option for people with low spec PC's,people with high end PC's shouldnt have to suffer :(
DeathKoala Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 The change you're talking about is in no way related to the effects looking different. The effects look different because a change went out that made it so dark energy colors are visible for things like Ember's fire, meaning you can finally smite enemies with pitch black everything. A side-effect of that change however, is that everything else looks kinda sucky now.
VoidPunch Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I agree, I can run high and never have issues so I don't know why they changed it for everyone instead of making it toggleable. ALso the color changes are just horrid! Black energy is not worth making literally every other color look bad!

DeathKoala Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 No offense, but you really don't know what you're talking about. I'm reasonably certain I do, but let's not start a debate about this.
Zarbain Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) No offense, but you really don't know what you're talking about. I think what he ment to say is that black colors mean no glow meaning most things loss there fabulous texture and become opaque. Edit: Oh wait nvm I just realized you are that trolling son of a gun who denies everything so you understood completely just give 0 cares to it because you need to troll. A side-effect of that change however, is that everything else looks kinda sucky now. That would explain why Volt's electricity has changed, but the arc traps haven't - one can be made black while the other cannot. It would be best if the old effects were brought back for all the regular colors, but picking a black color was programmed to change the effect to this new energy style, so we could have both. As it stands, I don't think it's worth changing all these effects so one color, as distinctive as it is, can work with them. I'm not too sure about the other details I mentioned regarding drops in quality, but it felt distinctive to me when I played beforehand. Either way, it's a system-wide enforcement we're forced to experience unless something changes.
Shinobi-kun Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) I can't see through the fog with my Vectis scope. And the way those corpses disappear? The enemy's developed smoke flares. There's just too much effects, too off putting and distracting. Edited May 4, 2014 by Shinobi-kun
