Stay With Volt? Or....

As the topic says I started off with Volt as my warframe, however also have an Ash. I was thinking of changing to a different caster-type warframe and gettin rid of Volt. I know he's fun and all, but well.. his ult isn't very useful against ancient infested.

Mainly curious what other people think of the other options for caster-type warframes. Namely; Nyx, Ember, Saryn, and Mag

The group I run with doesn't really have anyone running any of them, though one of the people mentioned wanting to get Saryn. For sake of variety, that'd make Saryn less of a choice in my eyes, even though she seemed fun.

Personally I would stay with Volt. While it's true his ult might be lackluster against infested compared to other frames, he can still do decent damage against Corpus and Grineer, and more inportantly he has some of the most fun to use powers in the game. At the end though you're gonna have to be the one to choose so do a bit of research and choose what you think suits you best.

I started with Volt, and I've kept him to this day. He's still, as the other person said, one of the most fun to play frames. I highly value any frame that has a mix of offensive, defensive and mobility powers; volt has em all!

If you want to become top dog in your group vs Infested, get a Nyx - her Chaos ability single handedly will allow you to survive in Endless Defense missions. I don't use her but my friend does and we all marvel at how powerful she is in that instant. Check her out!

Hope that helps!

agreed, I actually farmed all her BPs (nyx) and they are in the making...I am debating on selling my Ash frame or buying another Slot.

Eh. forget nyx. they nerfed defense mission drop rates to next to nothing. kiliken, venera, valefar, xini.. i tried it all today. I think 3 rares out of 5ish hours of play and 1 of em was a 5 wave exit reward.

Though to be honest I hated my volt. I still have it waiting for the day it gets new skills I actually would use. I"d get a trinity for the inevitable boss grind that will come with new frames. Or rhino for soloing. Saryn or banshee if you want to play with the new frames before the likely inevitable nerfs.

With a few Focus mods Overload still one shots basic infested - sure, it doesn't kill ancients, but you can kill them reasonably easy with shots to their weak point (even more easily if you have frost damage mods, they wreck ancients).

Another story is when you face those overpowered bullet sponge Ancients from high endless defense waves....yeah, you want Nyx there.

To answer the title - Stick with the Warframe you enjoy playing the most! You will love yourself for it in the end.

In terms of the Volt gameplay - I personally really enjoy the Volt. If I could fault anything about it I would have to say I dislike using the shield but that's only because I almost never find a use for it except in defense missions. But that's just me and not the power itself to blame.

If you're looking for a second Warframe, I would reccomend trying something besides a caster type for the sake of variety. There are some minor differences, but all of the caster Warframes play pretty similar for the most part. Ember/Saryn/Volt in particular. Personally, Volt is my favorite caster anyways.

Obviously at the end of the day it's your call, but just something to think about. Why not try a non-caster Warframe?

Frost? Why has no one mentioned Frost? He's basically a slower, tankier Volt whose ult is evenly rounded.

I've got both Frost and Volt and I love them both.

That's because no one acknowledges Frost even exists. I personally love Frost too, but it seems that he never get's any attention. But yeah, if your looking for a durable caster, Frost would be your warframe.

I do enjoy Volt, and I have Ash as a backup for not so castery play :P Though I was thinking of trying out Ember or Saryn really. Nyx also seemed interesting, but I kinda like raw power.

I didn't mention Frost mostly because he's like a cold-damage version of Volt. Also because he's one of my friend's mains xP. Not that more than one would be bad, just wanna keep the variety of our group and stuff.

I still am sad I haven't gotten a Flow mod -_-...

Completely off-topic:

Anyone happen ta know if they removed the Redirection/Vitality mods for warframes? One of my friends said they were once they implemented the passive stat gains, but I didn't see any notes on it.

Not removed, but by what i can tell their drop rates were reduced along with the others... not that they were high to begin with, but running raids sometimes yields vitality as a bonus.
Frost is nice, but he's so SLOOOW Mandatory max RUSH mod required.
That's why he has a dash polarity, dude.
