Orbister Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 it used to be facing down but people complained a lot about it, because upside IS the right way, and DE took note of that, and corrected it and everyone in the world was happy about that change and now, after that touching story, you dont like it.
Kripnex Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 (edited) If you are talking about what I think you are talking about... that's normal, that's how katanas are held. Edited May 5, 2014 by Hakitojin
Killist Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 you mean the cutting edge is pointing upwards? It's supposed to be like that
Altale Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 That's how it's supposed to be sheathed. There was a thread a few weeks before U13 where someone pointed out the Nikana was held with the bladed side down, and how the blade is supposed to face upwards. DE acknowledged this and a preview image of the animation rig was posted in the thread,
Kazzamo Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 It's supposed to be worn blade up like a traditional katana, drawing the sword blade down leaves the drawer more open to attacks than blade up does.
Calayne Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 It's supposed to be worn blade up like a traditional katana, drawing the sword blade down leaves the drawer more open to attacks than blade up does. Actually, it's the opposite: Blade downwards is more defensive, as it's easier to draw it up into the way of an attack. The blade-side-up was used by Iaido practitioners, and is a more offensive use, with quick-draw cuts from the top and side.
michaelwii Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Katanas are held that way. The flipped version somehow got popularized, and DE actually had it at first, but it isn't accurate, which the community made clear in the forums prior to U13.
ServareVitas Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Mmmm I don't think mine has changed... I'm going to go back in and check lol, was just reading the wiki and it reminded me of the annoyance.
