When Weapons Rank Up Do They Gain Damage?

I noticed that there was a slight damage increase in my weapons from when they were unranked. Is this true or did I just remember wrong? Also, if it does increase, does anyone know how much it increases each rank? I checked the wiki and I can't find anything.

No, they do not. A rank 30 weapon is the same as a rank 0 weapon except for one thing: mod points. As your weapons level up, they gain space to install mods. 1 point per level. You can fit in damage increasing mods for every weapon as soon as you hit level 4, as the lowest level of damage mods take 4 points of space.

 

But surely, since you've checked the wiki, you'd know about this. I may be spewing info you already know.

I use to think the same for weapon rank and mastery rank but its all in the gun and mods.

nope they dont, i did suggest a while ago that core dmg mod slike serration/hornet strike/etc get 1/2 their current effect with the 1/2 that was cut being added into weapons naturally via their lvl, this way newbs/ppl forma'ing got a benefit from wpn lvlups and at rank30 weapon dmg would largely be unchanged.

I believe that is the forum pic for people who have not chosen an icon in-game. There's no way to get it back once you've selected one, I think.
