[Weapon] Fist Weapon Ideas

Currently, WF has the Furax and Ankyros occupying the fist weapons role.  More weapons of this kind could add variety to this weapons category, allowing for other types of damage besides impact and even allow another stance type to be added.

 

Perhaps some of these choices will be of interest to you, the images are drawn from wikipedia.  They will of course, need new names rather then the dull original ones!

(Weapon Stats were made up on the fly, trying to keep them somewhere in the range of current fist weapons.  Welcome to any tweaking or help with these numbers!)

Deer Horn Knives

 

 

Deer Horn Knives are used in the Chinese martial art Baguazhang and consist of two crescent shaped blades crossed with one acting as handle, and the other as handguard.

For Warframe, they could do a mixture of Slash and Puncture damage.

 

Puncture: 17

Slash: 10

Attack Speed: 1 atks/sec

Critical: 2.0x | 20%
Status: 15%

Stamina: 6

 

Wind and Fire Wheels

 

 

Again a form of Chinese martial art weapon, the Wind and Fire Wheels consist of a large metal ring 15 inches (38cm) in diameter with flame styled blades protruding from it.

 

Impact: 5

Puncture: 12

Slash: 18

Attack Speed: 1 atks/sec

Critical 2.0x | 20%

Status: 7.5%

Stamina: 9

 

Trench Knife

 

 

A multi-purpose piece of murdergear, the Trench Knife can stab, slash, punch, and even crack heads.  Basically, brass knuckles meshed with a knife + underslung point to crack skulls.  Could use a new stance/fighting style incorporating slash attacks and punch attacks.  Stealth attack could consist of ever so subtly bringing the skullcracker point on the bottom of the brass knuckles to meet the unsuspecting enemy's head.

 

Impact: 20

Puncture: 2

Slash: 15

Attack Speed: 0.9 atks/sec (more unwieldy to use then either a straight knife, or a regular brass knuckles)

Critical 2.0x | 25%

Status: 15%

Stamina: 7

 

Pata (sword gauntlet)

 

 

From the same subcontinent that brought you the katar punch dagger, the Pata!  Could use its own type of stances incorporating sword slashes with thrusting punches

 

Impact: 1

Puncture: 3

Slash: 37

Attack Speed 1 atks/sec

Critical 2.0x | 20%

Status: 10%

Stamina: 11

 

Please let me know what you think!  (And also if it's frowned on trying to wholesale adopt real life weaponry to warframe ideas....)

Yeah, could really go without the trench knife myself. Why run around denting Grineer armor with a dinky little knife when I could be giving them a massive great sword to the face?

 

Other than that, these are some interesting weapon ideas, seeing something like the Pata in-game would be quite something. The Wind and Fire Wheels would be interesting to see added to the game as well.

I'd like to add that WF has done a great job of having various melee types of both Western and Japanese vintage, along with some homegrown stuff.  Incorporating some Chinese and South Indian weapons would be a nice way to add variety and show the Tenno as inheritors of all of the Earth's warrior mythos, including all the shiny weapons.

Uses of the Trench Knife:

Against Grineer:

A Tenno jumps and grabs onto a Napalm. Trying to get him off, the Grineer tries shakes crazily, but he is too late. A trench knife suddenly pierces through his eye hole and into his brain. To add to the pain and death, the Warframe wearer twists it slowly making a sickening crunching sound. As the armored clone falls down, dead, the Tenno removes his weapon. Gray and red drips from the blade.

 

Against Infested: 

A Tenno and infested runner runs towards each other. Suddenly, the man dodges to the side just as the parasite was going to touch him. Split second later, he ends his maneuver in a slide and then breaks into a flurry of movement. The once-grineer ends up crashing into a wall and splintering. Bloody lines suddenly open on it, and guts start spilling out into the ground. The splits and splats are quite satisfying for the infested's executioner. 

 

Against Corpus:

A Tenno and Crewman face off. Their eyes are glaring at each other, one filled with a milliena of hate and the other with just competitive energy. They reach for their Akvastos. 

Bang.

But it wasn't a gunshot. A second female Tenno had crawled up behind the Crewman, and actually crushed the reinforced plating that was once the Corpus soldier's helmet. Crimson goo then started leaking out, startling both of the Warframe wielding being.

The Tenno agreed to never speak of this again. 

 

Not so useless is it?
