Recovery8 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) Praetor, The Gauss SMG.Overview:This weapon, The Praetor is a Gauss SMG designed for high status chance, rate of fire, and puncture damage. Named for Praetorian guards of the old roman empire this weapon was kept mostly by Orokin guard. Firing ferromagnetic tungsten alloy darts at subsonic speeds, The Praetor can defeat most forms of personal combat armor. This weapon was recovered from the void by Tenno in terrible condition and the new weapon is not quite the same beast.Appearance: Damage and use: The Praetor is an SMG meant for high status chance and rate of fire having a high base puncture damage but low over all stats. This weapon has a slight natural punch through that can be utilized with the quiet nature of the weapon. The downside to this gun is that its ammo consumption is heavy and it is suggested to fire in bursts or stick to close combat with the weapon. The magazine is small, having to contain the battery and the ammo using a circular style magazine. Due to the battery operated mechanic it's better to burst fire this weapon as the stronger the battery life the more damage it will do and the faster the projectile will move but if you do chose to continuously fire the weapon becomes easier to control because the recoil is reduced._________________________________________________________Athens, The energy spear.Overview:The Athens is a spear attached to an energy tether for quick returns and pulling anything unlucky enough to be caught by it closer to the user. With a lazer lined blade for the tip it excels at piercing into a target keeping superior reach at the same time. The Athens was discovered along side the Praetor and were both weapons popular in security. They were reconstructed to the best of the abilities of The Tenno but the new weapons are slightly different from the weapons of old. Due to the fact that the tenno could not figure out the original tether system a bracer on the wrist is used to reel the weapon back.Apperance:Damage and use: The Athens has a charge combo much like the glaive or kestral but with a catch. Unlike those two it has a longer range but no bounce. It will however return to the use by tether and allows for bringing targets in for a quick beating. When not thrown The Athens is used to keep enemies at a distance, focusing on sweeping legs, stabbing forward, and just generally keeping enemies at bay until they can be drawn in and vulnerable._____________________________________________________________If anyone has any idea how to balance or any idea for stats on them I'd love to see them in the comments. Feedback and just chatter in the thread would be appreciated. I just think they'd be a nice addition to The Tenno research lab, adding a new primary and a unique melee weapon. SoulDust Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 always down for a new weapon, as long as it doesn't look like a weird boar. and the second is like a chained spear..?
Recovery8 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) always down for a new weapon, as long as it doesn't look like a weird boar. and the second is like a chained spear..? The idea is like that, it's tethered to the tenno, when thrown the chain goes out to a point and reals in quick when it has reached it's maximum range. In theory this is meant to work in a way similar to reeling something in when fishing only automated. As for the Praetor, it's meant to have a circular magazine but these images are just general ideas because I can not do art myself. Edited May 7, 2014 by Recovery8
DiabolusUrsus Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Like the lance weapons used by Generals from Fire Emblem Blazing Sword? HEK YES. The gun looks cool too. Can't find a decent .gif of that critical animation, but otherwise I'd be plastering that all over the place.

If you mean this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwXSKHI7jbA'> Then yes, that's very close to a simple 2D view of how The Athens charge would function. Edited May 7, 2014 by Recovery8
elgle2000 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 i like the spear but the gun can use a little more work thanks for shown us

Recovery8 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) Updated! Explained more on the Praetor to make it have more to it than a simple 'SMG'. Updated note about the glove to the Athens and how it is how the spear attached is attached to the tether. Edited May 7, 2014 by Recovery8
Recovery8 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Like the gun :D nice design. Thank you for the compliment! As of now those designs are for reference and I'm actively looking for an actual art design for them but I however lack the abilities. The Praetor was an issue for a moment so I'm glad it's more interesting now.
MrPigman Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 that smg looks really cool! the fire style reminds me of th eplasma auto rifle from timesplitters: future perfect. the longer you fired it, the faster it began to fire, but firing it too much caused it to over heat.

Thank you for the compliment, At the moment they are placeholders but the SMG is honestly close to what I picture. I'm trying to find a way to get concept art of both if I can and I'm looking for suggestions to stats and design for their appearance.

That's the general idea, though it is not as drastic as that. The fire rate is significantly higher if you fire in bursts and deals more damage but if you fire full force the recoil slowly goes down and the weapons loses a small percent damage and a reduction in speed but thank you for your input.
The_Sharp_Demonologist Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Love that SMG funtion. We need more SMGs in this game and this would be a good start. The Spear is also pretty cool
botbot123321 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Some stats for the smg. Impact:1 Puncture:10 Slash:3 Accuracy:15 Fire rate:20b/s Punch through:1m Battery size:20 Reload: N/A This guns reload is different from all others. Every time you are not firing the ammo takes 20 ammo a second from your max ammo, simulating a battery regening. The damage is found by this formula damage=total damage-((total ammo-#of ammo left)/2). So for example if I had 10 ammo left I would do 5 damage less than the original damage. If your not math savy basically as the ammo decreases the damage decreases.

That's not a bad idea though the idea is reduced spread the longer you fire as well so possibly keeping that in mind when you have low battery. Other then that I might run with this if that's okay with you. I still need idea's on The Athens as well to anyone willing to contribute.
botbot123321 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Yea that's ok if you run with that. Anything that helps!
Recovery8 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Yea that's ok if you run with that. Anything that helps! I'll be sure to credit you when I do eventually add it. I would like input from you all as to the stats of The Athens. When I have both they'll be posted with credit to the one with the best idea.
