zebar1313 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Okay, so obviously I’ve been a member since November, so I haven't seen all the crazy early changes, but so far i have a pretty good understanding of how everything works now. First the Warframes section The Warframes all seem to have their own specialties, obviously, and it provides me and the other players with a great deal of variety. I like playing as a majority of the characters, even the less played ones, volt, ash, saryn, etc... I like all the frames for different reasons, and i have great expectations for the frames to come. The balance between male and female frames is also a very nice touch and i like having that balance. Now the primes, I do like how they have the "prime effect" in the void and all, but a lot of them lack much difference from the normal versions. I personally think the minor changes in rhino prime is a step in the right direction, and in my saying so i like seeing that the rhino prime has more speed than the original and a different style iron skin (gold skin). By providing this alternate set of stats it motivates me to get the rhino prime over just keeping the normal version. It makes me feel like the farm for the prime frame was worth it and i got something i would prefer over the much easier to acquire version. My Recommendation, for the future prime frames give them minor stat changes or at least slightly different skill appearances to make them a cooler alternate to the original frame. Nothing game breaking obviously, but something to motivate players to set a goal to getting these primes later down the road after leveling their vanilla forms. Second the skills section Okay, so this one may be long.Ash- His skills are all pretty good dmg wise and utility wise, but his blade storm should have a cancel to it, I have seen many o threads of how it should be faster and that usually refers to an ash on defense missions and when a teammate is down. But with my experience as playing an ash, I think that blade storm could really benefit from a cancel on his blade storm. Blade storm has a really good dmg on it, but its speed can often be fatal if you're squad member is down and you are trying to clear a path to them. Yes you can just use smoke screen or teleport to move to them easily, but often i see lower or newer players using blade storm to kill the enemies around you before picking you up. More specifically, they target the heavy nearby you, but get caught in a 15 enemy cut scene and it can get the downed player killed due to the long duration. A cancel could fix this and let you finish the heavy next to the downed player and not get stuck killing enemies downstairs or something of that sort. Recommendation: Have blade storm cancel if you hold down the activation button for 1 sec after the activation of the skill. Banshee- Her skills are all very helpful towards the team. I Love using my banshee in all honesty. Sonar is by far the most helpful skill i have in my arsenal. Sonic boom is great in case you get swarmed by some enemies and you need some breathing room. Silence, in all honesty isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I was able to do the Rescue 2.0 missions very very easily just running sonar and silence on my banshee. And Sound Quake is also a very great skill. I like using it to hold enemies off while a team member rez a down player or even for a quick burst of dmg. Banshee is very well balanced and fits her role very well. By far she is the most balanced frame I’ve used. Recommendation: no more banana shoe frames; P Ember/Prime- Ember's skills are alright. With accelerant she can manage fighting grineer up to the mid-30s relatively well. Her fireball is great for crowd control and very nice to use because of the free aim. It's strong for a 1 skill, especially since you can get headshots and it has AoE. Accelerant is very useful for increasing fire damage and also for a quick stun to get a sec to cast world on fire. Fireblast is an okay skill, but when fighting infested, melee only it’s a great fighting ring. I only wish it did a bit more damage. World on fire, I love the new animation (fire geysers over the tiny fireballs in the air) it does pretty good bursts of dmg to everything around you. All in all she is great for going against infested obviously, but she can also handle herself on later missions. Ember prime is very good looking and is by far one of my favorite primes appearance wise. I just wish she got a slight buff against fire to set her above the original a bit. Recommendation: Keep her skills the same because they have great synergy with each other, but give ember a resistance to fire, it only makes sense. Excalibur/prime- Well Excalibur is just fun to play as when you're a veteran player. :P his skills provide him with great mobility, dmg, and utility. His Slash dash is great for closing distances and dealing moderate damage to those in your way. Radial Blind is great for giving you a breather or helping to save a squad member from death. Super Jump is great because it is cost efficient and it is great for escapes or getting to hard to reach places. Radial Javelin considering it’s on a starting frame is very very strong and does great dmg even at later levels. Recommendation: Slash dash should benefit from you melee weapons damage Frost/Prime- After the changes to frost i think he is definitely one of the most survivable and resilient frames in the game. His Freeze is his only weak skill, i like how it now slows an enemy down, but i think it should be changed. Ice wave is a great skill, it slows all the enemies in the path and it also does pretty good damage. Snowglobe provides him and team members with great cover. Its main use is to protect the targets in defenses and it is a skill rivaled by no other. Avalanche is a great dmg ability and the new animation is just plain epic and it still hasn't gotten old. Recommendation: his freeze should be able to freeze floors and if an enemy runs over it they slip and have to get back up, this will be balanced by only allowing 3 of these specific ice floors active at a time (if you use freeze again the oldest spot will be replaced by the newest. Hydroid- This guy, he was actually very fun to farm. It adds a great change from just hunting a planet and spamming a boss for the parts. He reminded me of farming for Nekros. Hydroids skills are all very useful. His 1st skill is amazing for crowds and it deals darn good damage. His tidal wave is useful for getting places despite feeling like rhino charge and slash dash. His puddle is just a blast. It's not only humorous, but it actually works extremely well. I can stealth entire missions by just using this. And it’s great for defenses against infested or disarmed enemies. And his tentacles are amazing, not only for area control, but also for dishing out dmg. Recommendations: Work on fixing the issue with the tentacles causing certain enemies to rubber band and cause frame rate crashes. Other than that, he was a great addition to the tenno forces. :) Loki- as his name represents, he is the master of trolling the enemies. His decoy is good for letting him have a distraction and for taking agro from him. His invisibility is amazing for stealing and providing him with extra melee dmg. It’s by far his best tool at surviving. Switch teleport works great if trying to get a downed team member away from mobs, or just helping someone get unstuck from random bugs sometimes: P And his radial Disarm.... It's really good, many would consider OP. I think that it works well for defenses and survivals, but on other mods it’s less useful. Recommendation: add an enemy limit to disarm to tone it down a bit. The rest is great and fits him. Mag/Prime- Mag is great for holding your ground, and taking command of the battle. Her pull can be used in any situation almost. It has a multitude of different uses. Shield polarize is the perfect weapon for corpus or the perfect support for shield tanks. Bullet attracter is great for your friends with crappy accuracy and helps to make shotties more accurate. Crush is great just to hold back enemies, other than that, it's slightly underpowered compared to the other skills. Recommendation: Crush should cause enemies to slam into each other if they have metal/armor (I.E grineer alloy armor/ferrite) this will cause more damage. Obviously not very effective against infested, but yeah. Robots should take a sort of EMP like effect and be inactive for a short time in order to reboot their systems. Nekros- Well yeah... He is kind of loots... His soul punch is okay for keeping an enemy/group back, his terrify is nice for reviving an enemy or for a breather, his desecrate is beautiful and gives him an amazing role. And shadows of the dead is well... lacking... Recommendation: Shadows of the undead should benefit from power damage more. Instead of more bodies, it should make the bodies more powerful. Nova-Now then... this warframe... i've seen plenty of her. Her molecular prime is the only skill anyone seems to use on her. Which is understandable, but i think they need to at least balance it out. Null star is a great skill, but it seems like nobody uses it because of molecular prime, everyone builds for efficiency which lowers how many orbs can be spawned. But i have tested a duration dmg build on null star and for a melee build its actually quite effective. Antimatter drop is great, but most people don't use it since it explodes when it takes to much dmg now. I like throwing out 2-3 of these guys and just rain down explosions. Wormhole is great for getting around or moving to downed players if needed. Despite some people only seeing it as a way to troll others. Molecular prime is OP. Recommendations: make molecular prime be effected by duration more. give it a 10 second timer and make the explosion radius caused by enemy death much smaller to make it less OP and make nova more balanced. Nyx- Slightly underused as I've seen. Her skills are all very beneficial and create many openings in enemies. Mind control works well when grabbing heavies in tight areas or even an ancient healer to rez teams and for a quick heal. Psychic bolts is underused, but i find them pretty good against infested. Chaos is extremely good at keeping nyx alive at higher levels. Absorb is also pretty good since your team can support you with high amounts of damage. Recommendation: Buff Psychic bolts to have a knockdown chance of 50% to make them more useful to her. Oberon- Plays the Paladin pretty well. His skills make him pretty skilled at whatever he tries. His Smite does great damage to an enemy and not only that but the orbs that spawn from the first hit make even more enemies take hits. Hallowed ground is good for holding your place similar to fireblast on ember. It lets you do small chunks of damage to enemies before they reach a set location. Renewal is an amazing skill, it helps the oberon be able to almost entirely solo a match even late game. Reckoning, well i just like the animation its great. Recommendation, make hallowed ground heal you or allies around it for a % of how much damage it does to the enemy. Rhino/Prime- Rhino is a great frame. His one allows him to travel through maps really fast, and also lets him get out of a jam rather effectively. Iron Skin is perfect for making him a pure tank. Roar makes him able to be a great team support as well, even if he isn't carrying the best weapons. Stomp is great just for the support it creates. Enemies are suspended in the air and it's really easy to pick off the most threatening. Rhino Prime is a nice example of what they should do with future primes. Give them slight advantages over the normal edition of the frame. Recommendation: Make rhino's movement speed go down while he is using iron skin to emphasis that he is a tank. Saryn- this is by far one of the most misunderstood frames in the game alongside banshee. Saryn's skills are great support and even great for damage. Her venom can simultaneously do chip damage to a massive group of enemies if you have the accuracy and not only that but it's viral proc is great for almost every enemy type. Molt is a good decoy to use if you plan well and bring a shade. Contagion makes her melee weapons extremely strong if you have a corrosion build and a pwr damage build on. Miasma is great with or without damage. It does gradual chip damage and it does a lot of it. Not only that but it stuns the enemies for a good amount of time. Trinity- her one is great just for healing support, but it's rarely used it seems. Energy vampire works well with a team especially on boss runs. I like using it with a melee channel build. Link is a wonderful skill that prevents knockdown and reflects damage. Bless needs a nerf in all honesty. I ain't hating on trinity cuz she is my most used warframe. But it really is OP. Keep the healing factor, but lose the invincibility. It makes things really boring... Valkyr- Most of her skills are pretty good. Rip Line does good as a mobility tool and as an enemy grabber with decent damage. Her warcry is extremely useful especially post melee 2.0 and fury nerf. Hysteria needs the rework soon. I know DE is working on it, but as it is now. I am barely doing any damage post Melee 2.0. Its good for invinsibility, but otherwise it's not so good now. Vauban- His skills are all relatively good for his role. He is good for defending and that's about it. Tesla works well as a mobile tesla by just sticking em to your sentinel. Bounce is good for getting places, minus the trolls.... Bastille is sooo good against infested and holding of certain locations. And vortex is just fun and really good to use. Volt- Skills are all useful in some way. Shock is great for stun locking enemies and the chaining effect. Plus it's nice that you can use it during a reload or while in the midst of shooting/charging your guns. Speed is a great team support for helping out slow squad mates. Electric Shield is good for making a temp cover and allowing certain guns to have instant bullet travel times. Overload just looks cool :P plus the buff to the cast speed was greatly appreciated. Zephyr- All of her skills improve her gameplay in some way. Tailwind is beautiful for mobility and getting to far places quick and effortlessly. Dive bomb is okay, but is good damage when stacked with good mods. Turbulence is a nice skill because of the fact that bullets fly in random directions and it makes sense since she's wind based :P Tornado is good for crowd control but needs a few more tweeks before its perfect. Recommendations: Tornado needs to drop mods and such so that way people don't get upset if they see a zephyr in the mathc. Dive Bomb should be replaced with something else.... Like a wind buff for your melee that adds reach or something. Now third Gameplay. The gameplay is great, i have fun killing stuff all day. The farming for everything is slightly overwhelming at first, but you slightly get use to it as you go. The Wiki is a great help with farming tips and tricks, and i think that it should be advertised in game that there is a wiki and it's very helpful as long as the information stays accurate. As for the maps, i like the variety and the sheer amount of different possibilities each map can set you up with. I personally like all the different tilesets and when i first started playing every mission was an adventure. For veteran players tho, as i can sort of consider myself one now (no offense) I can say that most of the maps are pretty linear and can only allow you to go a certain way with few exceptions on the maps. This is one downside, but i know that it's not that bad considering mass effect 3's multiplayer was the same exact thing over and over. But it makes me very happy and excited that they have at the very least 2 new tilesets cooking at the moment (infested tileset, and the corpus crashed ship tileset). Warframe to me, is like a way more fluid and badass version of Me3. I love the co-op element in games, and you need to be able to synergize well with other or else you will fail. This being said, i love the way the weapon set up is on this game, and the way you have to aquire your upgrades. I'ma refer back to Me3 for a second and sorry DE for doing this. But yeah the way Me3 had their market set up, it was dang near impossible to get the weapon you want when you wanted it. It required wayyy more farming then it does in warframe. The Enemies- the enemy variety in this game is great compared to most other shooters, especially the console shooters. with the Addition of the specters it's like having almost 5 factions (counting the orokin) of enemies. The fact that DE is currently drawing out ideas from the community for more enemies is great, and shows that they're interested in what everyone has to contribute. Which they've shown time and time again. Mastery rank- This system works pretty well i think, but in my opinion it should have a little more to it. The prime items should all be restricted to those about mastery 8 to make it harder for a new player to aquire one other than prime access. (only exception since you're straight up paying DE and donating to warframes development) more weapons should be restricted to the higher mastery levels and that should motivate players to reach those ranks. (obviously not to many so as not to restrict low rank players from having variety.) but for most end game players it's pretty difficult to choose from your endless arsenal of weapons and it would be nice to have a few more tailored towards the end game players. sentinels- They usually die pretty quickly in matches but each one has a pretty decent role of its own. My personal favorite is the wyrm since it helps me out a lot in matches. I am in high hopes that the Kubrew is a step in the right direction for these sidekicks. Rather then being pets i would like to see a battle companion. Colors/custimization- I am personally pretty satisfied with all the color templates and just the free ones they've given out. My favorites are by far the halloween, smoke, and the infested colors. There's almost a color palette for everyone. The immortal skins allow for a different style when customizing your character and i like most of them, despite them being sort of blah. Proto excali skin is a great example of where these skins can go. alternate looks, alternate body, etc... not just patterns. Stealth- this topic is obvious. Stealth in warframe is only a planned thing. Very rarely do you just jump into a random game and expect everyone to be sneaking around unless everyone is loki. I believe that ark traps/Broken lights and the sensor bar doors are a great way to slow players down, but i think that going an entire mission without being detected should get you a bonus towards your credit rewards. 2x if you're completely undetected, detected 1-3 times you only get a 1.5 multiplyer.any more and you get a base amount of creds. Parkour- There is many things that need to be improved here. The fact that you mantle over unpicked up mods, and that sometimes if you wall run to fast you get stuck in walls. There is also the copter effect which Eliminates any need for parkour most of the time. I think that at certain areas you should get bonus affinity if you can wall run or wall climb it (but only make it be rewarded once every location) HUD- The changes that i have seen with the HUD have been great, the easy and smooth new HUD is dang near perfect minus a few bugs. I occasionally don't see my sentinels health and when this happens it seems like my sentinel is just off, dead batteries maybe... End Game Screen- Recently since U13 i have been noticing a lot more frequently that the stats shown at the end of the match don't accurately match what you did, For example i literally had no melee weapon equipped and i got 500+ melee kills somehow? Then there is the new bug during Dark sectors where it shows a billion credits while you actually only get 10k. While funny, it does get old pretty quick. :p Fourth of all, other feedback Over the 6 months of me playing, i have been thoroughly pleased with where the game is going personally. DE has been slowly gaining strength and putting the extra elbow grease into the game. Minus the few little bugs here and there it is still much better than most full games on the market. I have yet to get tired of mass murdering all the grineer and infested. Even though warframe is in beta and most likely going to be in beta for a long time, i am still personally very glad and very proud of having been a part of this game's development even if my part is small. Just being able to enjoy this game as much as i've had is just amazing. My brother has been watching me play endlessly and he has just recently decided to jump in. He was even so interested in the game that he decided to get the stomp prime access and he has no regrets. He's been loving the game so far, solo and while playing with me. he's been having a great time learning and developing his warframes and weapons. His only issue was that Serration and Hornet strike were such essential mods to obtain, but it was so hard to get them. Luckily with trading i was able to supply him with only those 2 mods. Obviously not gonna ruin the game for him by giving him max stuff, but those 2 mods are very essential and i think that they should be acquired via a mission in mercury like a mod tutorial extended or something i dunno. So in conclusion i would just like to thank Warframe DE's for all the work, sweat and tears they have put into this game. It is truly a magnificent work of art. With a bit of fine tuning here and there it can be one hell of a game in the future. Also i apologize if some of the stuff i said was redundant or hackneyed like the nerfs/buffs but i just gave my personal feedback and i hope this read is helpful to the DE and any of those who managed to read this whole thing without falling asleep. I also apologize for my poor grammar and misspelling i am not an english major for a reason :P
