Is Soma Usage Still Looked Down Upon? Poll

I clicked "yes", due to the fact that I always hear a bigot use Soma as the benchmark of Warframe weapons, annoy's the hell out of me.

 

*Yea there are now better weapons that surpass the Soma, but yet it still used as a god dam benchmark.

I personally never had any issues with Soma users, that said i have always seen it as a transitionary gun myself and the same applies to Rhino.

 

There was a fairly long stage of the game where i used Rhino Soma because at the time it was my best gear and it was easily flexible to the rest of the game, used it to clear all the planets and Lephantis etc. Since then however i turned my focus to getting new frames and weapons and since then I havent touched either as i find many of the other guns simply more fun and in many cases better weapons, never felt like my Soma did much at higher level but perhaps thats because i never forma'd it.

 

If people still wish to use Soma at higher level thats fine with me, i just see it as a transitionary gun myself as i find the thing horribly boring to use after the first few hours of "wow look how high i hit".

The problem isn't that the Soma is secretly a bad gun; it's always been pretty good and one of the upper tier weapons. The problem with the Soma is that because it was THE GUN it meant every single person who ever asked the simple question "what is best gun in life?" flocked too it, without understanding how it works, or appreciating how any of the combat worked up until the Soma. It would be as if a low level noob suddenly jumped to level 80 and then hung around Venus. Every time I saw NOVA SOMA ACRID GALATINE join a session I cringed a little because I knew exactly what kind of player I was going to be dealing with.

It's still one of the best weapons in the game.

 

If you choose not to use it when you hit mastery 6, you're only hurting yourself and your performance and progression will suffer thereby.

I always thought scorning certain weapons/characters in a pve game was rather silly, especially in one where you'd be glad to have someone with a good weapon on your team when enemies become mindless bullet sponges. The only times I've ever felt any sort of bile in my throat are when some guy rushes Invasions while barely killing anything on his mad dash to the exit. But I can't blame them entirely; it's easy to get sucked into The Zone and autopilot your way through missions. I catch myself doing it occasionally.

 

I prefer the Synapse anyway. Zap zap.

Anyway, to answer the OP, I haven't seen anyone whine about the Soma for a while.

Soma isn't the highest dps weapon in game, but it adds variety.

 

Boltor P has higher dps, but has travel speed.

 

Synapse has limited range.

 

Amprex is good for clustered crowd of enemies.

 

Phage needs to focus the beam.

 

So you see nothing need nerf.

Nerfs in general, but unneeded nerfs especially, are gonna make a game boring: try imagine a game where all you can equip is just a Braton/Strun/Lato/Skana but with different skin. There you'd get what you ask.

If a change is needed is to swap Supra and Soma Affinity Rank requirements, and maybe move soma into dojo Tenno's crafted weapons.

HAHAHA! I considered the SOMA to be DOA the moment they nerfed it after their initial release.

I mean, it's proc rate is nice and all, but it's a darn weak weapon, especially when you consider all the other options you have.

I didn't look down upon Soma users before, in fact, I felt sorry for em back then.

Especially those that used formas on the soma right off the bat. 

 

But when I see people using the Soma nowadays, I laugh, in the most condescending, derisive way possible.

I mean, get with the program people. Using the soma is like using an old analog computer monitor, and running Windows 95 on your PC.

I just think our damage has out stripped all the enemies abilities. The game was way funner when I was running for my life lol. And no a smarter AI won't fix that. It may help but things don't live long enough to execute simple strategies let alone complex ones.

Honestly if we were grineer we would put 20 arc traps around every ventilation grate in the ship.

IMO Because it needs only 3 to 4 forma for maximum potential.

Other guns need 5 to even 6 forma to be even comparable.

 

The only other gun that has the luxury of needing only 4 forma is the Latron Prime.

 

And it is a harder gun to use since every missed shot means a huge amount of damage gone, plus the TTK isn't efficient since a ton of thrash mobs don't require 5 digit damage to put down.

 

And that is what the Latron Prime delivers in spades. 

At lower levels, 1 bullet from the Soma is enough to one shot most trash.

Bows have the luxury of only needing three Forma to reach their max potential. Though that is likely subject to personal preference, because adding a third 11 point element mod requires 4 Forma iirc. That, and bows fall into the "overkill at low levels" category with the Latron Prime.

Do you guys realize what it takes for the soma to be good, for one it needs to be potatoed, second a few forma, and third you will need certain mods that of course need to be maxed like serration which maxing is oh god painful. All the weapon you people complain about being OP need a lot of work(and money) put into them t make them that powerful in the first place.

Don't nerf the Soma ~ give us high-Mastery user levels where a death-hose like Soma is really needed.
