Personally Phage seems to win my favor~

when I feel like drilling enemies with my ghost buster proton ray~

but when I feel like just spraying bullets into enemies of course it's boar~

Phage is a lito lack luster cause I do feel like I'm tickling them sometimes~

I guess it's a matter of how you feel, you have the power of choice Tenno~

May our ledgers become ocean, may our margins see Centauri~

In the name of profit, I commit thee... to the Void~

Boar Prime for Corpus if you have ammo mutator, or tons of ammo restores.
Phage for everything and it won't go down below 50% ammo capacity no mater what you do.

The choice is simple. Go for squidgun #TickleTickleMotherbucker

I can only talk about the Phage here, but I love this gun. Squid Gun FTW!

you can try comparing the raw DPS on Warframe Builder (e.g.  Phage 3) but as you said, the important aspect is "the feel"

Phage has a 'load-up' time of 1.5sec, so not very suitable against ambushes, but if you can see the enemy approaching? Fire away! It has a very good crowd control potential once you manage to adjust its focus right - not quite pinpoint, not quite whole-room spread - this takes some time getting used to. After that you have nearly 30sec of continous fire, and can still readjust to focus on a single hard assed enemy if necessary. Think Flamethrower for medium spread vs Supersoaker for full focussed beams. DPS goes high enough for late-game mobs, personally have yet to encounter enemies beyond lvl 85, but those I could still take out.

If you want a gun that can fire across huge tilesets to the other end of the map, if you love the sound of bullet barrages tearing through your foes, if you want to click-and-click-and-click fire your weapon, if you have ever been raped by an octopus: stay away from the Phage.

with the crazy fire rate of the boar prime... and an added maxed shotgun spazz..... this thing is the craziest gun I have ever used, and its extremely fun to use, just unloading your entire clip of 15 rounds in just under 2 seconds just amazes me XD

Dont know or care so much about the DPS however I can tell you this.

I put 2 forma into the Phage and I am now so sick of it from relevelling it that I cant stand to use it any more. The Boar Prime however I have put 5 formas into and I still enjoy using it from time to time.

phage: extremely low burst damage. extremely high ammo efficiency. has a kind of wind up time, you have to wait for all lazers to focus together before youre doing full damage, a kind of anti-burst.

boar prime: extremely high burst damage. extremely low ammo efficiency. insane burst, high dps, but goes through ammo like an open bucket of water.

i like both.

they are VARY different guns and though they may both be shotguns they are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum and difficult to compare.

Boar Prime is inferior to Phage in every possible way. They're very much comparable. All weapons share 4 attributes.

Power, accuracy, ammo efficiency, and elemental status. Phage wins on all 4 accounts.

Phage does higher damage, more quickly. Phage can hit the weakspot on foes, and direct all of its damage into that one spot.

Boar Prime sprays all over the place, never hits the weakspot entirely, and like all shotguns, lacks ammo efficiency.

Phage has a bit longer of a range, and almost never runs out of ammo, once upgraded properly.

Almost all of the "wind up" time can be removed from phage with a decent fire rate mod.

Not to mention, Phage does VIRAL damage. Not wimpy puncture or impact damage, OH NO.

Nothing is more satisfying then infecting a tanky boss with organ melting viruses, and removing half of it's HP right off the bat!

You can then add corrosive to the phage, or any other combo element, and STILL have room for one more single element.

My phage does viral, corrosive, and cold. Corrosive is what I use, so it tears through grineer, but depending on what you face, you could change that for anything. The 3rd element is up to you, though I would recommend something to take care of shields, so the corpus can't boast a resistance to it.

Not to mention, phage has a very high proc rate. With a shotgun savy upgrade, it's 33% PER SECOND.

1 in 3 to proc, every second. That should amaze you.

It really is a no brainier. I really don't see why people think shotguns are "fun." They're crazy frustrating.

It's like one of those old cartoons, where elmer fudd shoots at buggs bunny from point blank range, and magically misses the target. Unless you're looking for a way to make this game much harder, don't pay Boar Prime any mind.

What he said.

Phage and Boar Prime are apples and oranges. Both are great in their own right. Neither is a Soma, though.

I prefer the Boar Prime overall, but they have different uses.

I like the Phage in defenses, especially if using Vaubon. It's great at applying statuses if that's your thing.

I prefer the Boar Prime in about every other situation, but essentially use it for skirmishing and especially like it against infested. It's a true alley broom with seeking force.

Can I just say I like both? They are both fun to use.

Phage is a tentacle monster ray gun that tickles grineer into submission/death, whatever comes first. The Boar Prime, hilarious to use and the ammo consumption is part of it.

Ultimately up to you if you'd want a super shotty or an alien tickle gun. If your having trouble deciding, level up both and choose what to keep.
