Just a note, this isn't a problem only with cyber cafes....

Many universities have this issue as well. I haven't tried doing this from, say, the SU while the person I'm connecting to is in the library, but I know SU to SU doesn't work.

anywhere that you don't have direct access to your router this will crop up.

heavily restricted ISP's with their own routers (*coughs and points at u-verse's "gateway" systems) can cause this type of error.

people using cell-repeaters as routers for their network.

people on wireless internet. (cell networks)

and considering today's news:

http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-mo-net-neutrality-fcc-protestors-wheeler-20140515-story.html

i doubt it's going to get any better.

(and before someone starts yelling that this has nothing to do with net-neutrality, see the above reference from wifi / u-verse / comcast / charter)

the loss of control of the internet starts with net-neutrality and will go down hill from there.

Strict NAT has always been an issue with Warframe, they've done the best they can to fix issues on their end but there's always router and ISP dongery that will mean this is always around somewhere

I'm surprised no one has pointed this out before you DoomsdayDan.....

But he is correct, DE is aware of Strict NAT, they've run into it many times, and many people have pointed it out, and they hate it as much as everyone else, BUT that does not give you the right to jump on the forums and dog the developers because of an issue that could easily fixed if you just get up, walk over to your network admin and say "HEY, I'm having connection ission with this game, would you mind helping me fix it" If you're having network issues, ALWAYS start from your end, and work your way BACK to it's origin, not the other way around. DE can't go to your Internet/cyber/computer/gaming Cafe and fix your Strict NAT for you.

Half the time that someone is having Strict NAT pop up on their game, it's because their router and/or modem isn't properly configured for the game you're having issues with. And the best way to fix this issue, is to first talk to your network Admin, if it's not your home network, and ask them to help you fix it. Then, if that doesn't work, you and your network admin look into other options of resolving this issue.

I would love that Cyber Cafes gave enough recognition to Warframe to bother putting it on their PCs.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen Warframe at any of my local ones.

If warframe had better LAN Matchmaking then it might become more popular at cybercafes.  Chicken/egg thing to be sure, but it couldn't hurt.

  • 1 month later...

Is it weird how I can play with pretty much anyone, except for one person I actually want to play Warframe with?

If this wasn't a free game I'd flip this place upside down.

ya well ive put money into this game, but im about to stop playing this game all together since they refuse to fix it

the only way to "fix" it permanently is for them to run dedicated servers (hosting).

which means deploying systems all over the world in colos to account for regional connections.

paying for hardware and bandwidth.

that's a huge cost when the current system works well for those that aren't being screwed by their isp or lack of knowledge to properly configure their network.

Internet 2.

Also, there will always be an ISP that is brave enough to ignore the "tiered" business model.

I remain unconcerned.

and just exactly how should they get around the american last-mile monopoly?

i'd really like to know that... because if you have an answer, you should really go into business doing it.

immediately.
