Eos Armor - Knee Pads Or Shrapnel?

Am I the only one who think that the new EOS "knee pads" look like shrapnel stuck in the leg of the warframe?

 

I'm all for more costumizational options. In fact, I'm one of those guys who can spend a solid 30-40 minutes in a character creater, and I don't mind the Tenno having spurs. So I really like that we finally have more option to make our pink Rhinos, and what-have-you, more personal, it's not that.
I'm only saying, that had I made the desing decision, I would have made them not stick out from the side of the leg.

They look more like spurrs to me.  Doesn't really work on most frames imo.  I've got them on my volt and ash, but that's about it :|

They're actually described as spurs when you mouseover them. I don't know why they're labeled as knee armor.

2 things about the Eos, 1. why did Tenno make spurs? 2. has anyone noticed the model is just the shoulderpad cut in half? (and the shoulderpad is the breastplate cut in half....)

Anyone also notice that for kneepads, they happen to appear to be worn on the side of the calves... not protecting the knees at all?
