Good Potato Builds For Grinlock?

Rupture and Sawtooth clip, Piercing hit first. Then Fast hands, Hush, Magazine warp, Ammo drum and Eagle eye.

Seriously tho, There is pretty much only one build you go for every single weapon, unless its a crit weapon or has some special mechanics.

Split chamber
Element 1
Element 2   Radiation and viral for grineer
Element 3   Magnetic and toxin for corpus
Element 4
Bane mod
More element or Utility mod like reload speed

IIRC its got a pretty high status, so a proc build with the two event mods and possibly HS would work pretty well for 'something different'.

Weapon is basically a status weapon so two status mods plus Split Chamber to get the most benefit.  Hammer Shot adds to the status chance. Crit mods for a roll of the dice. Replace with elementals or element and Heavy Caliber if don't like the roll of the dice.  You'll see below DPS recommendations using crit mods.

 

Or if you don't have the status mods, then Serration, Shred, Split Chamber, Heavy Caliber and all elemental mods and maybe a utility like Tainted Mag to add more rounds to the clip.  As another poster said, basic primary weapon build.

 

Not a lot of thought really needs to go in many of the weapons available.  I use a rank 6 heavy caliber in my Grinlok and shoot long distance shots just fine.

Elemental effects that deal damage are based on the weapons base damage, so both Serration and HCal are pretty important. Point Stike would work instead of Shred, but I like the puncture for setting off a whole chain of effects when shooting into a crowd.

 

With ^ setup, each shot would have ~86% chance of setting off an elemental effect. Gas would deal ~1300 toxin damage in an AoE on average, with a DoT for ~650 per second. Elec would deal ~1300, and stun enemies in an AoE.

 

This is a particularly effective setup against Infested, which tend to cluster, and Corpus, who are especially vulnerable to the above procs. 

 

Grinlock isn't a great weapon for stacking Corrosive because of the lowish fire rate. I'd leave that job to Tysis or Grakata. But the highish damage per shot makes it great for elemental damage procs.
