A Hypothetical Question About Cosmetics

Like the title says, this is completely hypothetical, "what if" question. Now then... humour me for a moment.

 

Let's say, one or two years from now, Warframe is finally done. It's finished, it's gotten everything it needs. It's reworked what needed to be reworked, fixed the worst of the bugs, balanced what needed to be balanced, etc. It's ready to be considered no longer under constant development, aka Full Release. Humour me here.

 

What do you think should be done with the cosmetics at this point? Should they still be bought with platinum, or should it be possible to unlock them via mastery rank and/or gameplay?

DE would still need to maintain their servers, besides there's never too much money. They'll probably still be availabe for plat only.

 

Of course if Warframe ever gets out of beta, which I highly doubt will happen.

I'd say, buyable because the game needs to make money for further content as a F2P.

But there could be some cosmetics for achievements or so. But the main part of them should stay buyable, I'd say. They give no advantage anyways.

Really high ranked players should get them as perks for their devotion to the game. I'm tired of seeing all these newbies spend a few bucks and they have the latest weapon, skin, syndana, warframe, etc. while I have to farm for parts, and even then I might not be able to build it (syndanas). Somethings gotta change, and somethings gotta change soon

I'd imagine they would stay as plat only things, with the possibility of some other stuff being added to alerts.

 

Running servers will always have costs and plat purchases cover those costs, even after development has come to an end.

Yup. That's why it is a hypothetical question.

Software is never finished. Especially not the Online Games. Finished Software = dead Software.

 

Besides, DE still needs money for their fixed costs.

Make some basic cosmetics available through MR ( scarf, sentinel bits, base color pack, weapon skins ). Some ugly and uncool ones, and lock good looking ones behind Platinum.

Good and bad are quite subjective terms. But why waste manpower for ugly cosmetics nobody wants? Doesn't make sense to me.

Because people cry about them, and its not that hard to make them.
