Can Someone Explain Why The "knee" Plates Are On Our Ankles?

They look ridiculous. Why aren't they on the warframe's knees? They are called knee plates after all.

 

The Daedalus make you look like you're wearing winged boots, and the Eos look like riding spurs. Then again the Eos are terrible looking.

Its the first thing I thought of when armor was introduced. Haven't bought any yet partly for this reason, but I did check it out in the arsenal. I was fully expecting them to attach to the front of the knee or at least the side. Not the ankles. Its looks ridiculous. And the Eos "knee pads" are... interesting to say the least. I would be interested to hear exactly why DE choose to place them on the ankles but hey, I'm sure they will probably change at least the Daedalus knee pads seeing as so far they are the only knee pads and I figure many people aren't huge fans of it. The eos "knee"pads can stay as they are I guess but the name should obviously be changed.
