# How Does Critical Headshot Damage Work?

## Question

According to the wiki:

By my understanding this means that critical damage to the head will be multiplied by the critical damage multiplier twice? (i.e the damage dealt is the base damage multiplied by the critical damage multiplier squared) Is this right?

Critical Base Damage

1) Base Weapon Damage * (1 + Damage Mods) = Modded Base Damage round down

Step 1.5:  Modded Base Damage * Base Crit MP% * (1 + Crit Mods %) = Modded Crit Damage round to nearest

2.

(a) When regular bodypart is hit:          Modded Crit Damage * Body Part MP = Part Damage  round to the nearest

(b) When special bodypart is hit:          Modded Crit Damage * Body Part MP * (Base Crit MP% * (1 + Crit Mods %)) = Part

Damage round to the nearest

The equation for special bodypart damage when fully expanded would be:

Modded Base Damage * Base Crit MP% * (1+Crit Mods%) * Body Part MP *  Base Crit MP% * (1+Crit Mods%)

Simplified as:

Modded Base Damage * (Base Crit MP% * (1+Crit Mods%))^2 *Body Part MP

K.I.S.S. The Headshot multiplier is applied twice, not the critical multiplier. So:

Critical Headshots deal 4x bodyshot damage.

Edit:

Average Headshot Multiplier = 4x%tocrit + 2x%tonotcrit

Edit2: Sometimes as client you get 8x damage from crit headshots, but I'm not sure why, it doesn't happen all the time and we don't know the trigger.
