Yaerion Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) tl;dr: I'm asking for systematic upstream threads before specific abilities/warframe rework, to centralize all the recommendations for it. It would help in several ways. Scott doesn't seem to want/need/be able to collect our ideas, but a lot of people have something to say anyway. The forums are invaded by requests/proposals, etc. So it would help, even though Scott won't read about this at all. I don't know, maybe he got too much work to do, or not enough time, or he doesn't like to be surrounded by external ideas. Whatever the reason, could you -Rebecca, Megan- just tell him that a lot of people talk about the abilities reworks on the forums? Maybe he won't use this information at all because he won't/can't care (i'm not blaming him, i don't know), but just to be sure that he is aware that we all are here, discussing together a lot about his (and his team if - like i guess- he has one) decisions. A centralizing thread posted upstream will: 1) focus our inputs. Easier to follow/review for you/us. 2) relieve the forums. 3) inform us. This is communication. This is a profitable strategy. This is professional. This is kindness. This is caring. Tell us clearly in these threads if our suggestions will be considered or not. We can hear "Scott can't consider your suggestions for this changes because it would take too much time / because DE needs to make some decisions alone / etc". 4) allow us to accustom to the idea of the changes before it comes out. Even if we dislike them, even if our suggestions won't be listened, it won't be a bad surprise all of a sudden. Members of the forums, dedicated Tenno, I know DE is not at work today. I'm counting on you all to support this thread. Post to make it live. Tell your opinion about this. Be honest. But be kind, always. Even though you have rough feeling about it. Thanks everyone. VKhaun Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) ...eh... I vote no. :/ Everyone flips out and gets negative, and changes the subject to trying to argue that we shouldn't nerf anything but should instead buff everything else. I'm sure Scott and most of DE are tired of being bounced back and forth between WTF POWER CREEP and WTF DON'T NERF.There's also a ton of difference between ideas and goals when it comes to drastic changes, which makes community feedback really unfocused in these situations. I say give them another two months to hack away at balance with their Scindo primes, then start up megathreads about how we can go back and tweak things when they're ready to tweak. Just to be constructive, I'd say that if we do get megathreads I'd ask that they be VERY focused. Like specifically this one power, definitely including this nerf, now community please feedbackificate us on what else you want us to add or alter. Or perhaps a poll like if they wanted to nerf Vortex, vote A) we lose suction at 1/3rd duration and it has power in use or B) it now moves and drifts away from cast location or C) it only works on kittens. Please vote and provide comments. Edited May 25, 2014 by VKhaun
Yaerion Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) If you say people are bashing, it's that they are all already doing it without a megathread, so it won't change at all, except that it will be on 1 place. The moderators will be looking this megathread so they can clean it rather than having 30 raging threads of the same topic per hour to manage."We won't do it cause there are trolls/haters" is not an excuse to not do anything good. It's like saying "we wont do an E3 cause some people will fight during the event." ^^Plus, it doesn't nullify the other good points of posting upstream info. And i was talking about specific megathreads. Ex: Rebecca/Megan posts "Oberon Changes":"The Design Squad is planning to do this and this to this ability and this one."=> people discuss of it, give their own ideas/feelings.Reb/Meg compile the popular ideas/feedback, submit them to Scott. He reads them or not. He use some of them to tweak its original idea or not. He's getting a mind=blown and change everything or not. That's up to him. Edited May 25, 2014 by Yaer
Vunie Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 devs need to stop listening to the whiners and do whatever they feel like doing with warframes people come here and try to get stuff nerfed for no reason when vauban got nerfed people started crying about frost just because they were mad about vauban being nerfed same with trinity and nova now they gonna start crying about loki and anything else people use

Wait, no, I'm not sorry at all.
Vunie Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Sorry that balance is important to the health of a game? Wait, no, I'm not sorry at all. what balance? nova is more op than before trinity can still be invincible and vauban can go forever against infested
vergol Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Scott, what we would like to do is put you into a position where you would have as many as FOUR people working right underneath you. You could all collaborate, gather suggestions and complaints, and vote on any necessary buffs/nerfs/changes. It's a delicate job for one man with one perspective.
Yaerion Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) Thanks Tulzscha, sorry for the misplacing. *edited the title and tl;dr for more clarity* @Met4lh34d: My request is not that DE (Scott, mainly, here) must obey to each of our wishes. It's about doing things right, benefiting to a lot of people. And raise the quality of the community-DE interaction. There will always be criers, haters and trolls. That's not an excuse to stop doing what we can do to improve the Warframe experience. Those people are here, they're already crying, hating and trolling in the forums, multiplying threads (and we are some of these sometimes). DE knows how to do their work beyond the cries. Moderators are here, too. IMO, we - members of the community - are more upset by those kind of people than any member of DE. Because we disagree but can't prevent DE to read their feedback, too. They have the same power of expression than we have. We see them as "threats", that's not the case of DE. They see us as a huge crowd with different and superimposed voices and opinions (almost always contradictory). They select what they think is awesome and justified. From whiners, cries, reasonable, gentle, superficial or deep members. The more they will communicate with us, with informations of quality, the more the community as a whole will be constructive and benevolent. Scott -as any of DE- is not our servant, neither a weak-minded. He could benefit from a place where all the ideas/feedback about his specific WIP are discussed. Without feeling restrained in his final choices. Edited May 26, 2014 by Yaer
