Nameyo Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 24 hours is a very harsh wait time, especially when the tests the system is based around are broken to a point where if you cough hard enough, the test will fail you for no obvious reason. I could stand a 1 minute cool down or maybe 7/8 of your experience bar is taken away and you must build it back up to take a test again, but 24 hours is entirely unfair. I am still at Level 0 because of this. I just want to see what the game has to offer, but it shouldn't take months to get that train going. Please, fix the tests.
Dueler Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Losing 7/8 of your experience bar is insane. It'll take forever to get that back at higher levels. AFAIK, mastery rank only unlocks a few weapons, so most of the game is still there for you to play. If you're having a lot of trouble with the tests, it's helpful to YouTube it so you know what it's gonna be. I did it a couple of times.
Imaru Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I agree that 24 hours is harsh, but 7/8 of your mastery for that rank is WAYYYY too much. As I imagine you have yet to discover, you only get mastery from a weapon/warframe once. Because of this, losing that much (or even any) of your mastery locks you out of a lot of the game if it happens too often. maybe drop the cooldown to 6-12 hours instead of 24. Also, the Wiki is your friend. The mastery rank section will help you to get through mastery tests before you screw them up to begin with. http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Mastery_Rank
ShadowDragon000 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 It's a test not a mission. It's to determine if you can do something without getting to attempt it over and over again, in the same way that you can not do a test in school 2 mins after failing it and memorizing what you did wrong. Not being able to rank up does not effect your ability to rank up weapons, farm mods, do missions or anything that vital that you need to be able to do it over again. If you fail the test then you didn't deserve the benefits of a rank. *@##$ing on the forums after playing the game for almost no time is just lame, don't play the game then because if you are this impatient then you won't make it anywhere anyway. TLDR: Go away.

Tsukinoki Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 The tests aren't that difficult and are fairly straight forwards. The first few tests are pretty much just run around and kill everything within the time limit. Simple as that. Most missions end up harder than those tests.Further you dont lose anything from having to wait 24 hours.Your mastery still accumulates, so you dont have to stop leveling anything up or anything. Also, losing ANY mastery would be a horrible idea, the reason is that you only get mastery from weapons one time and that's it.So if you lose mastery you've just potentially locked yourself out of the higher ranks permanently. And to add on to that, even if you could regain the lost mastery, what weapons would you have to level again to earn it back?Especially considering that the higher levels require 50K+ mastery in order to reach the next rank (Or roughly 500 weapon levels, 250 warframe levels at the low end).Once you get up to the higher levels you'll find yourself spending long periods of time to reach the next rank. Usually quite a bit longer than the 24 hour wait time imposed for failing.
Katakuna Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Heh, regaining 7/8's of your experience will take far longer than 24 hours, and it'd only get worse the more you rank up. The 24 hour cooldown is unnecessary, yes. Maybe it'll get fixed when Mastery Rank eventually means something other than the approximate size of one's e-peen.
Xylia Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Eh... they added a 0->1 test now? Last I played, you just get Rank 1 automatically and Rank 1->2 was "kill a few guys with a pistol" though I heard that test sucks now because of how stinking weak the Lato is (get a Lex before then).
ShadowDragon000 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 There's got to be a more constructive way of saying that. I don't have much care or patience for people who don't try to push themselves or attempt to understand the systems that they work in, if someone else could sugar coat it that is fine. I would prefer if people who don't have the ability to commit some effort didn't play because I would rather not have to continue dealing with people who whine about systems that that don't want to understand, while I can see that there are flaws in the system I at least understand why such things are the way that they are and why the systems would be built that way.
notlamprey Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I think I'm right in saying that the current Mastery 0 -> 1 test is a Primary Weapon test. I watched my buddy take it, and he was matched against Corpus holos. The Mk-1 Braton is all but useless in that test. My advice would be to build some better weapons as soon as possible, to make those first few "basic combat" tests easier. Even the straight-upgrade Braton from the market is significantly better than your Mk-1 starter. It really sucks that the starter weapons are somewhat inadequate for even the early content, especially considering a new player's limited options for modding. Try to spend a little time beefing up your arsenal with some better weapons before worrying about the tests. They'll just be frustrating if you use the starter weapons.
