Trading 2.0

with everything getting the '2.0 treatment', i think the trading system could use an overhaul.  currently the Trade tab is full of 90% WTS spam, people's questions for price checks going unanswered and people generally not knowing the current market price (selling crud at high prices or asking to buy rare stuff at extreme lowball prices).

i feel the upcoming player ships could fix all that. since we will be upgrading and adding nodes for foundry, market, etc. why not one for trading?  have a trading node that sets up your 'shop' where you can list everything you want to sell, view offers or past sales and a search function that shows username and lists of prices so you always know the current market value.

some way to browse a user's shop and be able to PM him/her to set up a trade time - or even better - to be able to do the transaction right there and then, and some notification would let you know via your in-game inbox so you don't even have to be online or leave your mission.

i just feel trading could be a lot easier and more efficient and the player ships would just make sense for this.

I like this idea actually +1. My biggest hate of the current system is running back and forth between the effing dojo for every single little trade. On the flip side I'm a little hesitant on anything that sound auction-housey tho mostly because prices will plummet to oblivion once theres no need to be actively engaged in trading and suddenly theres 50,000 people selling 1 item competitively and of course the 300+ rank 1 redirections priced at 500p.

This sounds pretty good, the only things I could see are making it to where it still requires the player selling to accept offers and allow players to still offer like you can now allowing negotiations to happen. The only other thing I could see would be to give the player the ability to set up what percentage goes to the clan so they can choose to help their clan with trades or carry over the clan tax. The best thing about this though would be the removal of having to enter the clan dojo to trade (could still require trading post to be made just be a check for if it is or not rather than having to go through it for trading. Sorry for the wordy message and if anything is unclear just ask and I'll try to do a better job of explaining.

Seems like a copied idea from Cabal.

That required players to be online while they wanted to sell their stuff. That was bad. None of that here please.

Seriously, trading is fine as it is, there are far more important issues than a secondary feature. Go "brainstorm" something else if you really have that much free time.

I completely agree with you, current trading system is a mess. Having static shops that you can set up and let players see your goods is a grand idea. It does not have to even be on player by player basis, I could even work with a marketplace where every player adds their goods, list the price and pay a small fee for doing so, but we run into a snag as there is a lot of item for item trade.

As far as I know, PMing a user requires that user to be online.

What's your point?

Seriously, this matter is so insignificant when compared to current issues like power creep, broken mod system, very limited MMO aspect of the game, very limited player interaction etc., that insisting on it resembles a display of narcissism.

Also, what's so wrong with the tried and true chat trading? WoW's been doing it for 10 years now. We might need an auction house, but that's it, and that'll probably come with player HUBs.

Really, sit down and be patient.
