Vheraun Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 While Sundering Weave is a great stance, it has a thing that bugs me. The quick melee animation. While most stances have a basic 1-2 combo as an animation for quick melee, Sundering Weave only has one hit, always from the same side, which makes it feel clunky and awkward, not to mention... spammy. Any opinions on that?
VKhaun Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I actually love this. I absolutely love the consistent, target to target, schwingy chopy attack that Sundering Weave does and the arc looks fine for attacking stuff on both sides. Feels really good when done slow with spoiled strike. I'm assuming it will not last though. There's no transition. The Tenno doesn't bring the blade back around and loop into the same attack, they just sort of reset in a blink and then do it again. Could even be a bug and there already is a combo there that's just not working.
Shion963 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Quick Melee isn't really dependent on the Stance mod, is it? It's more towards the Machete-class weapons' basic stance moveset. I mean, Kogake and Obex's quick melee animations are gonna be the same regardless of whatever stance mods they have on. Anyways, it's one reason why I find the machete-class weapons dull, Horizontal right chop forever. Not even gonna do it from the left? *chop* *chop* *chop* Okay...
DavidSPD Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 At the very least I would like to see it do a second strike in the other direction. Kind of like Nikana. Resetting all that momentum looks strange to me. Doesn't flow well. Not a big deal imo though.

Though don't get me started on Nami Solo being a machete -_- Quick Melee isn't really dependent on the Stance mod, is it? It's more towards the Machete-class weapons' basic stance moveset. It isn't dependent on the stance mod? Didn't know that. Still, Sundering Weave is the only machete stance out there, so, same thing. I'm glad I find people that agree with me :3

It isn't a big deal, but I think it would be rather easy to be fixed as well. From an inexperienced point of view, at least.
VKhaun Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) ...don't get me started on Nami Solo being a machete -_- They're not machete stances they're cutlass stances. They'll fix the name eventually! ;) Edited June 4, 2014 by VKhaun
Vheraun Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 They're not machete stances they're cutlass stances. They'll fix the name eventually! ;) Well, while "choppy" definitely works for a machete, shouldn't a cutlass be more... slashy? Wider, more fluid strikes?
VKhaun Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Well, while "choppy" definitely works for a machete, shouldn't a cutlass be more... slashy? Wider, more fluid strikes? Sundering Weave looks fine for a Cutlas to me. I am no expert and don't pretend to be one, but when I think cutlass I think movie pirates. Swashbuckling almost like fencing, technical and fast, to create an opening. Then taking advantage of that opening with big mean violent swings. The quick melee looks like a nice big mean swing, the combo looks like it fades technical then goes back to brutal at the end. Very happy with it. Lets say they left Sundering Weave alone. What would you want to see done with an additional stance? Any movie clips or youtube vids you could put up?

I found nothing like what I had in mind with a quick search, will do a more thorough one later. However, I did come across , which is very much unlike what I had in mind, but technically perfect for a cutlass.
