onivanloo Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Ive played warframe since it first came to steam open beta and ive loved watching it grow into a better and better game, but one thing that has bothered me is a lack of variety when it comes to play styles. We have two "tanks" (rhino and frost), two healers if you want to count oberon, and a ton of direct damage dealers (or "mage" type frames) and support frames like banshee or nekros. And even the support frames dont necessarily directly support their team mates in the traditional MMO sense with buffs. So after thinking about it for awhile and looking back on other MMO's ive played I came up with the idea for a monk themed frame that I think would fit in well with the overall ninja theme of warframe. Here's what i have so far Benkei: Monk themed warframe Background for the name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benkei Tank/Support depending on mods and play style Primary damage type Blast for limited CC Melee focused frame Im still working on balanced abilities that make this frame unique and fit his theme. So far Ive come up with two "aura" abilities, one increases allies shield and health regen rate and possibly armor. the other increases allies ranged and melee damage and movement speed. Both only work within a certain radius of Benkei. For his number 1 ability I was thinking either a flying kick that travels in the direction Benkei is facing that deals blast damage in a small AOE on impact with an enemy. For an Ulti im stumped on what would work best. Im hoping the community can give me some feed back or suggestions as far as abilities and stats for him. Ill try to draw up some concept art for him over the next few days, in the mean time let me know what you guys think
rayzwingz Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 would be soo cool! another tank si always nice and he should have like fist techniques and palm techniques that make great use of ankyros and furax and obex and when he is released we get bo prime as a bonus in the void!
Zareek Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Not a bad idea I'd say, I'll definately see where this is going
onivanloo Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) [update!] Ive come up with base stats that I think are balanced as well as updated abilities and a new name that I think fits better. Vajra: Monk Warframe Health: 150 (450 at rank 30) Shield: 100 (300 at rank 30) Armor: 300 Power: 100 (150 at rank 30) Stamina: 150 Sprint Speed: 1.2 Role: Tank/Support Powers: 1- Blinding Strike: Vajra dashes toward target area with blinding speed. Teleports in direction the cursor is pointing and creates a small blind AOE effect at point of arrival. Enemies at point of arrival also take blast damage within a small AOE. Modified by power and range mods 2-Soothing Breeze: Vajra releases a breeze of healing energy around him. Allies within a certain radius receive a buff that increases their health and shield regen by 20% for 20 seconds. Modified by power, range and duration mods 3-Mantra of Perseverance: Vajra radiates an aura that strengthens his allies bodies as well as their resolve. Allies within a certain radius receive a buff that increases damage dealt for 15 seconds and instantly restores 20% of total energy. Modified by power, range and duration mods 4-Thousand Palms Stance: Vajra assumes a stance of perfect offense and defense. For 20 seconds Vajra is invulnerable and auto counter attacks enemy melee attackers. Also reflects 30% of damage back to the enemy. For the duration Vajra uses a special stance using his palms when performing melee attacks. Modified by power and duration mods Thats all I have so far. Concept art still incoming. Let me know what you think, Id like feed back on the abilities especially to make sure they arent game breaking or too situational. His number 4 is one that Im completely open to changing if its too over the top, I wanted to give him an Ulti that wasnt just another room sweeping ability or nuke Edited June 11, 2014 by onivanloo
