Aggh Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) https://forums.warfr...yst/#entry14743 What about war frame slots and weapon slots? Not much point in the crafting system if you absolutely have to spend cash to use a war frame. Edited January 9, 2013 by Aggh
Mezecs Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 So far my concern, you can still completely "finish" the game by completing all missions (roughly said) and replay it. I play the game mostly with Ash and want him to be completely free from Pro upgrade. I can play missions and finish them on solo except for the boss missions. I join my friends in the fight even though they haven't pro either. Think about the weapons now which are available especially about the Gorgon which is a perfect boss killer. So yeah, you can put extra mods of the pro upgrade on a gorgon like extra ammo, but teaming together(why are you even against your online teammates who have pro you straw man? :P) you don't even need this. I always have like 300 bullets left when killing the Jackal and when I hear you can get about more (or not) than 999 bullets, it isn't really necessary to upgrade it to pro, unless you miss a lot. It's a co-op game :D Edit: if this game is going to be PvP with the platinum system, I am going to side with the none-payers I barely understood a word of that.
Seventhwolf Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 What about war frame and weapon slots? If they give you this mysterious Oroking reward and if you can make a pro upgrade with it, I think it should be available for all gears.
Momotani Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) Hi guys this game is awesome and i will support Warframe wilth a little bit of my money 5$ per month for so much fun thx to the devs and keep up the good work Edited January 9, 2013 by Momotani
Aggh Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) If they give you this mysterious Oroking reward and if you can make a pro upgrade with it, I think it should be available for all gears. Having it be a rare drop from high level bosses and the occasional alert would be best. This would mean that players would have to play the game for a while before they can farm them, but alerts would give beginning players the occasional shot at it. Making the crafting requirements pretty grindy could keep it from being too easy, while allowing it to not be an incredibly rare drop since people will get really tired of grinding the same bosses over and over again just so they can progress. What's more, they could add crafting material that only drop from bosses to add another level of difficulty to it. Edited January 9, 2013 by Aggh
Windbow Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 @DESteve: I couldn't read your lips from way over here but that's good to hear (read). However... I think a few of us who *did* pay plat for going pro would be a little bit peeved. That is, unless we get our plat back from the pro upgrades (only!). Me? I'm not too fussed. I think I've played more than my 'fair share' of Warframe from what I paid (I still have unspent plat). I have a strange personal benchmark. 1 USD paid must be equal to 1 hour of fun, otherwise the game kinda sucks. I'm happy to say this game has yet to suck. :D (for me, at least) @Momotani: Why not pay in advance for 4 months (Disciple)? Then just spend $5 worth of plat per month. :)
FanaticGamer Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Are you insane? That's 600k-1M for a full set! Considering it's only 20 plat that's incredibly disproportional. 200K credits is insane? I just farmed Hades today with 3 other people, I made 100K credits in 3 hours of play (most from selling high rank mods).
GreggAdams Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I barely understood a word of that. I could read it, what's wrong with it?

Anyone that's been playing this game for a decent amount of time is already sitting on hundreds of thousands of credits (if not millions) with next to nothing to spend them on. DiBBz Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I miss a lot of threads. I have also answered in detail in several, repeating myself several times. I am sorry I missed yours. While I respect your position and I appreciate how passionately and articulately you've shared it I don't agree your solution is a slam-bam, fixed, game is making money, everyone is happy, forums are ghost town because satisfaction is guaranteed. If you are waiting for a 'pure cosmetics-only' version of Warframe, I am sorry, but I can't see it happening in the near term. I totally respect your opinion, and I don't think we're far apart on this issue (e.g. I am creating a crafting alternative for Pro) but as I have explained elsewhere, its a gross oversimplification to look at LoL or TF2 and say "Hey look, it worked for them!" TF2 was a commercial product. Made its money back for Valve and more. Then it went f2p. Now they added coop and sell tickets to play on servers. They have... what? A decade of dev time into it? What about copying LoL? I'm sorry, but any hardened LoL player I've talked laughs at claims its cosmetics-only. It is the most played game on the planet. It is PvP. Its a bit like telling your local bookshop to copy Amazon. It doesn't work, we have different constraints, we don't have investment capital, we don't have an existing mod playerbase to harvest. Thanks for you time on the forums and I hope you stick around despite my disagreements with some of your points. well said great sir
[DE]Steve Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 What about war frame slots and weapon slots? Not much point in the crafting system if you absolutely have to spend cash to use a war frame. No, this only affects weapon upgrades. The slot limits may change, but they are not a wall. Sell old gear if you can't horde. We place no limits on Mod/Misc item collection despite the database burden.

I personally intend to buy the $50 pack and before I do that I have to say we have more then enough frame slots and weapon slots.

A rare crafted item (that uses rare resources) can be used instead *if* you get a blueprint. Or you can buy that item for Platinum. Hope that explains it, it seemed the best way I could think of to be fair to your investment.

We place no limits on Mod/Misc item collection despite the database burden. Sure, for weapons that makes sense, but only because there's a sensible number of slots to begin with. Anyone that's putting in the time to craft a war frame is already putting in a sizeable time investment already (it's taken me ~57 hours of play time to get all the parts for ash/trinity/mag/ember/rhino and I need to farm up ~2100 rubedo to finish crafting them ). I can't say I fully understand why there even needs to be a slot system for war frames since they're already the most expensive thing in the game in terms of time/money used to acquire them as it is. Asking someone to spend ~$15-20 or ~10 hours of grinding play time on a warframe and then an extra $1.33 on a slot to use it is pointless knickle and diming imo. Edited January 9, 2013 by Aggh
SkyCaptain Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I'm fine with paying for slots, because they're not absolutely necessary but are convenient. That's the kind of stuff a F2P game should be selling.
Funkenstein Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) Read my lips: Pro is gonna go. And soon. Everything else in this game is craftable. The best melee gear can't even be bought with Platinum. Ideally I would work for free and give you a foot massage, but right now we are just a small team of entrepeneurs that are listening, trying to make you happy all while staying in business at the same time. Real scumbags! :) "Pro is gonna go" is kind of a misleading statement if you're just adding an alternative method to pro-ify an item. Still, that's fair as long as the method to do it isn't unreasonable. I don't speak for everyone, but for me personally the question of "will I give these people money" always depends on developer attitude and ethics. I'll feel a LOT more comfortable dropping $30 on some platinum when that barrier to free play is removed. I mean, I don't want to spend cash shop money on stuff I can / should be able to earn in game, I wold only use that on cosmetics to make my frame look cooler. It's not a question of spending the money to get something in return, it's a about supporting the game that deserves it and has earned it. I'd like to believe there are a lot of people who share this mentality. Edited January 9, 2013 by Funkenstein
