Morec0 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) See this thread for details of what I mean by “miniboss”: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/181063-assassination-idea-mini-bosses/ Lore: Grineer Sergeants are known for their ruthlessness in battle and their unbreakable loyalty to their leaders, to the point that they value their commander's safety over even their own. Usually fairly young Grineer clones still new to the field of war, the Sergeants of the Empire do not tolerate weakness from their allies or their enemies, and are willing break any that display hesitation or cowardice. Appearance: think typical Grineer look with a more unique, commander-like touch with a right arm that has been rebuilt into a rocket launcher in a similar fashion to General Warfield’s cannon arm from Starcraft 2 - of course, with a more Grineer aesthetic: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll41/LegacyCWAL/SC2%20LP/Mission%2025/M25-Warfield-Arm.jpg (sorry, wasn't able to find an image I could post directly in the thread) Basic Fight: Like all mini-boss encounters, the Grineer Sergeants are just meant to be bullet sponges with high health/armor, so as to not outshine the actual boss encounter they come before; and, of course, since they are a Grineer character, they would only appear in Grineer-oriented Assassinations. They attack with rockets that, while fast moving, can be dodged with a roll. They deal medium-levels of damage and do not have a knockdown effect. The Grineer Sergeant’s special ability is rocket barrage. He will fire a series of rockets in the air which will rain down on arena, dealing damage and knocking players down. The range of their effect will be large, but will be marked by a beacon so that quick-moving players will avoid it. Quotes: (Intro) “Your journey ends here, Tenno. You will not survive this battle!(General) "Death to all who oppose the Grineer! Death to all who oppose our Queens!"(General) "I will use you to decorate our ships!"(General) "The Tenno will never, never bring down our Empire!"(Using Rocket Barrage) "Victory for the Queens!"(Using Rocket Barrage) “Die! All of you: die!” (Using Rocket Barrage) “I will crush the Tenno into nothing!”(Using Rocket Barrage) "None of you will survive!" (Death) “This… is not yet over… Tenno..."(Death) "I... have not even begun to..." Voice Acting: Edited June 12, 2014 by Morec0

Metalarcher Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I like the idea of minibosses, but wouldn't it make more sense for the miniboss in question to not be a named Grineer character? It already makes little enough sense that we can kill people like Vor dozens of times over... Maybe instead of "Captain Krieg Ehl Murl," he could be "Grineer Gladiator" or something like that?

Hmmm... yeah, this makes more sense (especially, given that one randomly shows up before any boss fight - save, maybe, Vor, given he's the first - it's harder to explain it away with simple MMO game mechanics of respawning). I'll edit that up, go back and redo the voice acting to fix it too - not 100% pleased with the final product anyway. EDIT: Besides, this way they could replace assassinations targets for Assassination Alerts, rather than have named bosses like we currently do. Edited June 11, 2014 by Morec0
