The threads have already been merged...

Because I reported it, Mr. Hamster. And I also informed the OP about the duplicate thread.

My message in the new thread was merged into the old thread.

Yeah, ok, it's Hamstr by the way.

Was kinda hoping this thread was dead, I posted this back when I didn't really think about the ideas I posted. But this reply isn't helping either, I guess.

Maybe add a system to give each post a +/- bar so that players can upvote a post or downvote a post. This will eliminate the need for players to reply '+1' to a suggestion thread because they agree. Reduces spam and lets players know if they are supported or refuted.

Best reason AGAINST an upvote/downvote or agree/disagree system for single posts would be a link to the League of Legends discussion forums. It's hell and I hope to never have to see it here.

I hate karma system. It leads to people subconciously making posts that they think will get the least dislikes rather than speaking their mind. I've seen it happen on forums that started out with no system and added a karma system.

Also, it is my belief that a dislike button simply does not add in any way to the betterment of a game. As FrankieonPCin1080p said on YouTube's dislike button - many people dislike videos because they can - "give somebody the tools to be a tool, and they will be a tool".

As has already been mentioned, I think a dislike/disagree button also leads to people not posting why they don't like, and allows people just to say they don't like it because they have a certain feeling, but no real reason why.

Not such a problem with an agree button, as the OP usually covers why he thinks his idea is good. At the most, an agree button, but never a disagree button. Force people to think before they express their disquiet with an idea.

I feel it would be a good idea to allow people to show support for a thread by selecting a +1, thumbs up, etc etc option without having to post a reply, but I personally don't feel it should be tied to a karma system that is viewable by users.

There is something to be said to be different, but there are also proven working systems for a reason, no reason to throw everything out or not add something because X site has it or doesn't have it.

just use a favourite system or a voting system, i feel like the thumbs up or down can really affect someone perpective and they might not even try to discuss in the forum because most people might like the idea and this one person is like left out almost.

This would work much better as a system where if you like the post you can +1 it, and if you don't like the post you can reply to it and say you do not like it. Downvotes turn everything into a cesspool of pointless argument.

Personally, a 'likes' system can turn a thread into an egotistical circlejerk and I wouldn't want either in favor of leaving the forums how they are, but if we must add some sort of rating system I would suggest it only be allowed in the upward direction. Keep things positive.

Though it would probably help with spammy the posts like:

^This! +1! /thread!

I'd prefer having +1/-1 than just +1

But I think it would be a good idea (if possible) to restrict the system to only certain subsets of the forum. Like "Improving Warframe" "Bugs" and "Design Council"
