noveltyhero
Ok, we all know the token system has been suggested plenty of times. However I still want to push this out and suggest that DE can try out the token system and see if they combine it with the current system (not tokens being RNG but going side by side, some stuff RNG some stuff tokens). A now to try this out safely without screwing up the game too much is an event. Let me set the scene: Darvo contacts you, he has been hacked by some AWOL forces of (corpus+grineer?) and they want all of his shipments, now of course he can't give that to them. He needs you to strike the bases of these forces and return the data chips which have been scattered around different regions for their own safety. Darvo will reward you greatly for these data chips as they are more expensive than his life. Now, there can be simple rewards (which will keep people playing the event even after they have completed the primary objective) such as: Oxium packs, Orokin Cell packs, Neural Sensor packs, Credit packs, Fusion Cores and potatoes. Each with a set number of tokens required for balancing purposes. Then we can have a strong powerful rewards, a unique weapon, some skins, unique mods (of course just early access to it), badges etc. This way for the duration of the event people will constantly play as much as possible to get all the tokens required for the item they want most, because in past events you had no reason to replay which is something DE can avoid as events were always exciting in MMOs due to its longevity. So these ideas are just basic, foundation tier. But I was wondering what you guys would think if DE were to try this. Tell me below if I should add anything or if this idea is just painful :/ My Player Questing System: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/245234-player-questing-system/ Additional Suggestions Limited number of X 100% agree, we NEED something that gives us a break from the RNG fest that we have currently. But too add to this a little, maybe put a limit on the really good stuff. i.e. you can only get x number of potatoes per week/month or something like that, otherwise the token system you suggest would make it too easy. This idea could work but instead I'd have random outbursts of content. You can send in X number of tokens to reserve an item and randomly Darvo would show up "Hey I know you've been wanting this item, here you have early access to it as a show of my gracefulness" or somewhere along those lines. Meaning that some rewards would be limited, i.e you can buy 2 potatoes before you have to wait in line for something to show up randomly. Archistopheles
Why design an entirely new system when they could've just not broken the one they had? Hashtag 14,000 posts

This is only a simple event idea. Which in turn allows them to try it out and see if it actually works in the game (have no idea why it shouldn't). I will add that suggestion to main post however. Why design an entirely new system when they could've just not broken the one they had? Hashtag 14,000 posts I like RNG in games, it is just overused here :/
direcyphre
It's always strange to hear this suggestion when there is already a system in place for just such a thing: Platinum trading. Here is how it works: Step 1: Complete Void/Derelict/Nightmare missions Step 2: Sell Prime parts/rare mods via Trading Step 3: Spend platinum on what you need (other Prime parts, mods, potatos, slots, etc) All you need is a little charisma and market know-how! (not really). Though I'm sure some would say 'but that's more grind!' and you'd certainly be entitled to your own opinion. Unfortunately there is no 'sweet spot' for the number of missions it should take to earn new things. For the rest of us, playing the game is fun, so the rewards will eventually follow. Superkoco
I think the token system should be a secondary way to get mods/parts from void. Example: You want X from T3 cap. X=2% drop rate. Every T3 cap give you a 1 token. 2%= 50 runs on average to get it. X should cost 100 tokens. If you are a unlucky boy, and after 100 runs you don´t got what you want, you can exchange it for your tokens.

Yeah the game is fun to play. However, I feel slapped in the face every time a new awesome thing comes out and I find out I have to RNG to RNG to RNG to have a chance at RNG for that weapon. I played the game a lot and I supported it (still do) I am just saying when I farmed Ember Prime (not even going to bother going for the newer frames now) after 2 months of trying and finally getting her I did not feel rewarded, all the effort felt wasted, not because she wasn't good enough (she is awesome) but because of the effort I had put in getting her. The trading system is not a substitute for a token system, the trading system is managed by players and the prices fluctuate according to what players find appropriate to price stuff, token is managed by developers and how they feel it is appropriate to price things. Whilst I can see that being good I think DE simply needs to slow down with weapon and frame releases and just add more planets/mission types so that the content can be more spread out. Not play T3 Capture and have a chance at hundreds of things :/ However RNG can remain in the tower keys but only if some of the stuff there is removed and pushed into other areas. DE can push out a player quest system, (I shall make a thread on that later) similar to dark sector except no hostility, players would put keys out and ask for something, say a receiver. You run the mission with 100% chance of getting that receiver except not for yourself, your rewards are separate. The trick behind it is that you cannot choose who you run the quest for or know the specific difficulty (could be T1 or T4 as far as you know)
Liminal
Just ... YES. And regarding what Steve said in a devstream about "tokens being another word for credits", any resource in Warframe is another form of credits. Even DE's beloved Argon (ie: tokens could have different types so players can't hoard them for a future item, or they could expire or whatever).
