123Olympian Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 There has been mixed reviews in this last update: Some thinking: Gee, T4, cool. Other: Oh great, another item I am going to be forced to buy though trade thanks to rng walls...again... Other:****************************************************************************************************************************** Pretty much thinked now the update made the game worse. Just my opinion around this update, I will stay with my intro first I would want to get off my chest. I really am going to stay out of dev bashing for my sake and yours, although I must say that warframe was real fun in the beginning for us vets. We farmed, there was no such thing as rng walls or grinding, if so I rarely heard of it. Most Hek Gorgon weapons were not overpowered, and anything void was really genuinely fun, and never overrules planets. The community itself was real nice, and extremely unique to be honest. We got along with the devs, and dev bashing was nonexistent, as most of the time we spoke nicely to each other even on intense arguments, both sides valid. For me, I think this era ended around the time a bit before Nova was introduced, or around that time. Now, about the update. I really think that T4s needed a foundation. Such as the tubas are the foundation of a band. In my opinion, they should of continued Alad V's event, then introduce Vor's Prize similarly. Cons: More time. Pros: Foundation through awareness. Not an angry community. More quality. We were(I was) caught off guard by the T4s, as I wanted Alad V's plot to unfold. I feel the community and the devs themselves were not ready for T4. Warframe was just not ready. Yet. I want to know how you all felt about this update, use a picture or text, I am going to be checking along with others. What is fun?
Lord-Taco-the-Great Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 How did I think of the update? In my mind of course! But in all seriousness the only problem I had were the old T4 drop tables. And I totally agree about T4s needing a foundation.
MegpoidBeetle Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I didn't hop on board the hype train so it did not impact me too much. Only thing I'm not enjoying is how annoying it is to obtain Loki Prime.
Brahmastra Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 More RNG than I expected tbh. Also my excitement for Loki went down fast...2fast
RedMonarch Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) Tbh, I think part of the problem is that so much of the player base has become absorbed in the idea of being gods in it's gameplay. What I mean is that so many people run around farming for Rhino/his Prime, the highest DPS weapons ( boltor prime, Soma, Brakk, Marelok) or Nova so they can just easily explode everything and run away with ease cause she's super fast to boot. To add, so many players just want to be able to eat up the content within 1-2 hours have everything and not have to play the game til the next update cause they got bored since they destroyed the content within minutes. They just want to be gods, and on top of everything in the game. Make this hard to obtain and you get these people who are so used to being spoon-fed, crying for their OPness to be given back immediately with no walls to scale, cause they don't want to work to be good, they just want to be gods and have everything be EZ peezy. They don't want to find the best Nyx build, that's too hard, it's so much easy to grab a 1 forma nova and hit 4 and watch everything die. Change any of these things, make them harder to obtain, and all the people who play this game with a silver spoon in their mouths come on here, screaming and yelling, calling DE all sorts of names ( money thieves, criminals, terrible developers, you name it (seriously I saw money thieves and criminals though, still can't believe it) ) and whining about how terrible the game has become. "OH NO, I ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO STUFF NOW, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HATE YOU DE" I'm not denying that the game has issues, but I know they'll get fixed, as I keep ontop of the streams, forums, the devs thoughts etc. I just hope the direction of the game isn't pulled in the way that favors the biggest money spenders, who happen to have no idea on how to properly develop and fix a game. Stay Strong DE and do what YOU want, this is your art, your lore, your world. You can give us choices in this world, consider our thoughts, but do NOT let us direct you entirely. That'd make us no different than the people who wanted the main character of Warframe to be a grizzled veteran with an eye patch. The update was fine for me, I see how the drop tables suck but tbh I'm not phased by a hard grind like I used to be. For me, it makes finally obtaining them more special, even if I obtained them after giving up for a few weeks cause I just needed a break or so. Edited June 14, 2014 by S1kTh

Ritchel Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) its all fine, t4 is a place for new future primes guys be thankful we have an update every wed, so few games does these Edited June 14, 2014 by Ritchel
ShioriShi Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Did I think this update went well? No. Will I bash DE for it? No. Enough people complain about things atm, and I find complaining about things even more dun help. I think this update did feel a bit "rushed" and alot like a "ops we did not finish Alad V, quick lets distract them with Loki and T4". I would like to see DE move away from weekly updates and into monthly ones instead (obviously hotfixes as needed), giving them more time to actualy work on things. And if I have to complain it would be that DE really need to comment on the RNG situation, and openly work with the players to get it to work, in the end that will be best for buisness in the long run.

123Olympian Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 More RNG than I expected tbh. Also my excitement for Loki went down fast...2fast Same, I thought it was going to be fun farming for him. Then I ran headfirst into a rng wall. [Awesome response.] Agreed fully. So many people are used to being hand fed and some people even try to find something to complain about. I agree that some people should go and work for the new content, and not eat it at less than 5 hours, and complain: "omgwhyistherenonewcontentusukde" Really people should be considerate of the DE, as it's hard to have creations each week, meeting a deadline than can make or break the game. Yet, some of these people should be worked to an extent. With this said rng walls is not the answer.

For me, it makes finally obtaining them more special, even if I obtained them after giving up for a few weeks cause I just needed a break or so. I would agree if obtaining anything in this game ACTUALLY WAS HARD. The T4s are not hard, seriously. They're really not. Whether we get what we want or not is conditionned by ONE factor : LUCK. Or randomness for those who don't believe in luck.^^ There is NO difficulty in obtaining a Loki Prime for instance. It's just either the part drops because the RNGods were in a VERY good mood, or it doesn't and you do it all over again. Difficulty plays no part in this. Nor does "challenge". If there was a boss, or anything that requires you and your team to play with coordination, "skill" (hate that word, has lost all meaning) and teamwork (another one that doesn't mean much in Warframe, sorry), then I would be HAPPY to hit a wall there. Because that wall would force me to improve my "skills" and create real group cohesion and work (that could be good for the entire community, come to think of it^^'). Even if this didn't guarantee a part, or the part I want, I would still be more satisfied in what the game offers than with the current system. I agree completely with you on one thing though : we deal way too much damage (with some weapons at least). It's crazy. DE should hardnerf damage. For everyone. Not to turn every fight into something long and boring of course, but at least we wouldn't breeze through every planet like we do now and then see a "first to open fire wins" situation when we reach the Void.^^' Weapons could have their damage aligned, and enemy scaling get a kick in the balls to "balance" this. Of course this is MY opinion, nothing more. I'm not saying that it's the only thing DE should do and if they don't "I will quit!", I'm not THAT pretentious or arrogant... And if I gave this impression with this post I'm truly sorry.^^' Edited June 14, 2014 by Marthrym
DoomFruit Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 My opinion. Straw that broke the camel's back. Yet another deliberate increase of the grind and yet more void drop table dilution (and if you actually look at their official void reward list instead of just regurgitating the patch notes, you'll see that 80% of the non-forma items are duplicates). Added to the constant slow decline (crappy new UI, broken magnetic leaders which they refuse to fix, black energy ruining every other colour and so very many other things), it's the first update where I took a look at the new stuff and said "I'm not interested any more". Well done, DE. You've made me go back to Planetside 2 again.

Well done, DE. You've made me go back to Planetside 2 again. Personally, I picked up Wildstar. Far, far more satisfying than Warframe. I keep hoping maybe DE will figure it out and deliver on the potential of this game, but right now? Sure doesn't look like it. How many times have we been told they're going to 'reduce the grind/RNG' and the exact opposite happens? Oh well, doesn't matter. At least they're not the guys running MW:O, I guess.
Sorez Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 T4 is fun. It's not bullet spongy like T3. Its more like the shipments alerts from a week or two ago. As an Ash player, screw Loki Prime :D Im also one of those people who dont use prime weapons cuz he prefers the original look. *Points at Glaive*
MechNexus Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I may have overreacted at release, but this patch has still been far from perfect. An extra void tier is nice in theory, but I fear that it may worsen the power creep. (mind you, if it's truly like the suspicious shipments, it may not worsen it.) Really, I think a lot of the grindwalls are there to slow down the kind of player who rushes through everything, instakilling everything, then complaining that there's no content. Rather than relying on RNG, we should work to nerf rushing and the unholy trinity of OP gear, because we need to sort that out before we start work on making enemies more advanced, as any work spent on making the AI better or making them more engaging to fight may be all for naught if people can still rush right past them and/or instakill them. Also, even chance for every part, might encourage trading unwanted parts for wanted parts a little more.

And if I gave this impression with this post I'm truly sorry.^^' I suppose I should have worded that the difficulty of the game comes from your mental ability to endure getting the bad end of the deal when it comes to luck, which I think most of us can admit at some point, it's super hard to deal with. I do agree with you, the game really isn't hard in the sense we all expect, and it isn't going to be for a while. The people who balance the weapons and enemies would have to spend hours upon hours experimenting to find those sweetspot values, where the fights aren't long and boring spongey blast offs, but they still feel like they keep you on your toes despite not being of unbelievable length, making you worry about not screwing up as it would be easy to. They'd also have to deal with listening to all the people who would hate not being godly in this game any more, along with having to figure out if they want to keep the Tenno as strong, unique beings within the universe with special abilities that give them the edge over others. What I mean is, if you make their powers mediocre or useless, you lose the feel in the game I think we've all come to recognize, that sense of empowerment of being a tenno. I think the proper solution would be to knock back some of the dmg outputs of the weapons, like Soma, Boltor Prime, these assault rifles with incredible amounts of killing capability at any lvl which really don't make sense in my opinion. Something like the Brakk, I think makes sense, as you must use it in closequarters to get the OP dmg, but its also a shotgun, which are pretty much fatal at close range anyways. It also can't wipe out entire groups like nothing at any level, not with the way it fires It makes sense. Rifles like the soma and boltor prime who can keep their amazing dmg at all ranges, never overheat, that doesn't make sense to me. The main thing that bothers me though is that those rifles are more of an edge than the powers of the tenno really. A soma with maxed crit, dmg, and punch through decimates groups faster than AoE powers..... that just feels wrong given the main thing that makes us unique is that we have these "godly" powers. These really need to be balanced, and not made the sole reason so many people can survive in the highest of difficulties. Skill in this game to me is using everything at your disposal to defeat the enemy, not just that one overpowered weapon. I mean parkouring, dodging, blocking, melee, secondary, primary, powers, team mates, gear, etc etc etc. Using all the given mechanics you've learnedto achieve success at the higher levels, that's how it should be shouldn't it? I mean they are the highest levels, they should be like, the ultimate test really. Idk if that fits your idea of skill, or if you find the idea of it irrelevant as skill has really lost it's meaning in this game, since so many peoples visions of skill are different ( the part of the community that thinks if you dont press 4 all the time, you're not good). I don't blame you either way. I think it can fixed, the solution is far from easy, but I think in due time, with enough voice backing it too maybe, it will happen.
Psychus Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 What do I think of the update? Lies and slander. Got told one thing, got shown another. Yenno how they removed all those S#&$ty rewards, told us that they wouldn't come back? They came back. Yenno how they told us they were reducing grind and working on a solution to the RNG? Take a gander at T4. I know that I'm not alone in saying that I'm pretty fed up with the way things are going. If you want to muss up drop rates and push people to buy a product, do us the courtesy of at least not lying about it.
Evanescent Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 The people here have forgotten how to have fun. I feel saddened when I see the amount of kids whining in the forums about PLZ NERF THIS or NOOO I CAN'T 1 HIT EVERYTHING ANYMORE!!! Seriously, how did this happen?
Psychus Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) its all fine, t4 is a place for new future primes guys be thankful we have an update every wed, so few games does these Soo what you're saying is be thankful for a craptastic update, or even craptastic weekly updates, because other companies don't normally do weekly updates? So I'm supposed to be thankful for a turd, BECAUSE it is unique. Edited June 16, 2014 by Psychus
n0xi0us Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I think the most telling thing is how people are upset they can't get the new gear within hours of it releasing.. within 3 days, while some players were finishing up their own Loki Primes, others were raging like their real life was being altered by not getting the new frame right away.. then trying to play the victim when they themselves push with such a single-minded determination, knowing full well how WF has its drops set out, into a state of frustration.. over just playing the game and let the pieces fall where they may. I may have bought the Prime Access, but I had planned on it when the talks of Rhino's PA being done were being whispered about. I've done my share of serious, very lengthy and painful grinds in other games, and am actually rather happy that DE isn't locking everything behind a paywall, the real wall that worries me in F2P games.. yeah, RNG is a fickle thing to be sure, and it can and does suck when the thing you want doesn't drop right away, but that doesn't make it the end of the world. I've already explained to some other people what I experienced in terms of an insane grind with low drop rates, so this type of thing to me is not as severe as some posters make it out to be.. then again, with it being free to play, its expected in a sense. In any case, I was actually hopeful to see the continuation of the event that was started with the suspicious shipments, but alas, its not ready. Time goes on, and I am still having fun, so what the hell. Next Wednesday is, after all, around the corner.
