Question

Greetings!!

I just decided to give my ignis a second chance. Ever since damage 2.0, I've been neglecting it. I am currently using pure heat damage, but the damage is so underwhelming that I am hesitating to use it. Before 2.0, it was an infested slaughtere..

Here is my current build:

Ignis2_zps5f395a27.png

If anyone could give some tips on how to make this weapon viable, Id be very happy !

Oh, Ignis. I guess, it is the only flamethrower in the world which status chance is not 100%...

Yeah it's quite logical isn't it?

If you've got it, switch out Speed Trigger with Malignant Force for Gas damage, which does wonders against Infested. AoE + DoT proc is great when they crowd together.

Hm, I was considering that.. but would that be better overall that just pure heat? I mean sure the proc is handy but I was hoping I could up the damage to a viable level lol

If only using it with ember then not much if anything to change, if other frames as well then one loadout for each faction, Gas/Radiation/Magnetic

Compared to http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_2.0/Heat_Damage#Type_Effectiveness'>Heat damage, which does +25%/+50% damage against Infested/Infested Flesh, http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_2.0/Gas_Damage#Type_Effectiveness'>Gas damage does +75%/+50% respectively. That's about a +50% boost in damage, not including the boost from Malig Force.

Of course, there are the Ancients to deal with, but they don't take less/more damage from either. If you decide to take on more Ancients that regular Infested, then Corrosive + Heat would be the way to go.

EDIT: Hmm... I forgot that you could have been using Ember's Accelerant. If you choose to use that, then pure Heat would definitely be the way to go. Though a Ammo Mutation could be thrown in, if you love to throw flames everywhere.

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Accelerant Ember trumps that

Just tested the gas combo. I went to wave 15 on Eris. Seemed viable enough, other than when I had to kill ancients. If I went with pure heat and had to rely on Accelerant, I would do lower damage overall. and I would have to use accelerant every single time I wanted to do decent damage. I would also lose the 60% status chance.... hmmmm what to choose...

I went with (all maxed):

1) heavy caliber

2) serration

3) split chamber

4) firestorm/rifle ammo mutation (depending on the situation and fraction)

5) malignant force

6) high voltage (combining this and no.5 will make corrosive damage which is good against armored targets)

7) wildfire

8) Hellfire

5 forma build.

Works really well even in the void.

I just formad mine again, so it has 6 forma. Im gonna try use corrosive and heat combined. I'll post my build when my Ignis is 30 again

I build Corrosive against Infested, as that's what does decent damage to most Ancients. I bring a Rad modded melee to take out healers. The base fire (and Bane mods) on the Ignis is enough to take out lessers at roughly the same amount of time as toxin/disruptive ancients.

http://goo.gl/vbRlg1 for Infested. I don't use Firestorm as I believe the extra range is mostly wasted against melee enemies. I don't use Speed Trigger because I would rather add to the damage/ammo and thus have to drop ammo restores less often, but it is a viable replacement for the event mod.

Rad/Viral proc build is still hilariously effective against high level Grineer. Can get it up to 42%, or ~50% if using Hammer Shot. Considering the number of enemies you can hit in a single second of firing it's rather effective. I do wish it was higher tho.

ignis vs infested should be Corrosive+Heat, gas is nice and all but that pretty much just kills trash faster which would die just as fast without gas anyways.

People still use ignis :O

it still decimated groups of mobs in low/mid content, it just sucks bigtime for highend games where it sadly just becomes a super soaker.

Ignis neess a huge damage boost and status boost.

dont agree with the status boost, i would agree that if fire is fitted then the status chance of fire alone should always be an innate 100% but not the other elements.

damage i dunno, maybe a minor amount, its fine for low/mid, just sucks for high lvl but DE have said nothing is "balanced" around stupid high lvl.

Imagine if Ignis had 100% status... Radiation would be a godly CC and Corrosive would remove armor in seconds if you fired in bursts.

Here is my final freaking build:

No Bane? The 30% damage is worth quite a bit. Especially against Infested, which are vulnerable to the base element.

With Bane instead of Mal Foce you would lose 6% corrosive damage, but gain 57% fire damage. Definitely worth the loss of some status.

same as my build only i have wildfire instead of firestorm.

Edit: With ^, Bane would be worth -6% Corrosive, -0.114 proc/sec, but +75% Fire damage.

Hmm I will definately try that out. Appreciate the tip!

Edit: Definately a LOT stronger!

yeah that works, just im not that fussed about fire dmg, it mostly affects stuff that dies fast anyways, i like as much corrosive as i can, and i added wildfire mostly for the higher clip size, the extra fire dmg is just a nice bonus.
