Whitewolf..UK.. Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) I would love to see the addition of one or two extra mod slots for first and secondary weapons. I am mainly thinking about the ammo and reload type of mods. But how would we "earn" these extra slots? I would like to hear your ideas on this topic Tenno. Edited June 15, 2014 by Whitewolf..UK..
Whitewolf..UK.. Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 It may be included in upcoming Focus system. Oh really? What is this Focus you speak of???
Angius Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Oh really? What is this Focus you speak of??? When your frame/weapon reaches level 30, you can install so called "lens" on it, and it'll gain all of the overflowing XP towards unlocking some special things on a kind of a skill tree.
Paul_Pianoff Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I am strongly against this. Adding more mod slots will remove the risk that comes with the mod system. Want more ammo? You'll have to sacrifice that elemental damage mod.
Dtexas Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Primaries and secondaries dont need more mod slots. They can be really strong with what we have. Theres no need to make the game easier.
Cpl_Facehugger Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) Primaries and secondaries dont need more mod slots. They can be really strong with what we have. Theres no need to make the game easier. I'd argue that they do need more slots because right now, "utility" mods like magazine extension or the like have to compete with damage, with most people choosing damage since it's much more useful. A slot or two that flat out won't take damage mods and will instead only take things like magazine warp or fast hands or whatnot would encourage people to actually use these mods outside of novelty builds. Same goes for warframes. Things like warm coat wouldn't be used even if they provided 100% resistance to ice levels because who's going to sacrifice something that's always useful on the mere chance that you might get hit with the ice level condition? But with utility slots, such "worthless" mods aren't competing with things they can't really compete against, they're just competing with other situationally useful mods. I am strongly against this. Adding more mod slots will remove the risk that comes with the mod system. Want more ammo? You'll have to sacrifice that elemental damage mod. That's the thing, though. Nobody's going to choose ammo when the elemental damage mod is available. Who's going to choose more bullets when they can choose a mod that adds 30% or more to their damage? ShioriShi Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Would be nice if we could get Serration, Split Chamber and similar mods moved to focus, these are "must have" mods that everyone use, and it would be nice to use the slots they take up for other things.
Eidolon_Slayer Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Maybe when T5 stuff is released and damage 3.0 is out.
rockthatwoodx Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 instead of more mod slots they need to rebalance the damage mods to be equal to element. IE - razor shot would deal 90% slash with an 11 point drain.

Nope, wrong...this was the original design. Current design will just add XP to bolster your clan or something silly like that. But it's not final yet.
Iraetus Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Nope, wrong...this was the original design. Current design will just add XP to bolster your clan or something silly like that. But it's not final yet. I thought to choose a skill tree based on the Original Tenno Lore Clans.

Wrong. The "Clans" DE was talking about were te lore Tenno Clans. Tenno fractions, if you want. Each fraction has it's own polarity and skill tree, so basically the - dunno - Crimson Destroyers are associated with the V polarity and Warrior skill tree, which gives you more damage and offensive ability, Teal Tulips are associated with Bar polarity and Caster skill tree, which gives your powers more utility and gives you more power overall, and so on and so forth.

Sir, im not sure where you found this, or if your a DC member, if you are the latter, you must realise leaking this is against our code of conduct, and this information is, outdated and scrapped. DE mentioned for Focus they went back to the 'Drawing Board', once again.

__Kanade__ Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 That's the thing, though. Nobody's going to choose ammo when the elemental damage mod is available. Who's going to choose more bullets when they can choose a mod that adds 30% or more to their damage? I had to do that for my Supra, it burns through ammo so quickly that I chose to increase it's clip and ammo capacity over extra damage, still does fine either way.

You guys realize the more slots you put on Frames and weapons, the LESS choice you're giving players? You're just making it so we have to make less tough decisions. Add more slots and the standard build exactly what it is now + fire rate and mag size. We need better mods, not more places to put crappy mods. Goodbye 30% mag size. Hello "shots to weak spots replenish your magazine by 1" Goodbye zoom. Hello zoom + accuracy. Goodbye +10% status chance. Hello "all shots to weakspots cause status chance". Random examples but TL;DR.... Make better mods, not more slots. Edited June 16, 2014 by notionphil
