Ionus Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Since the last update, the regular Vor on Mercury doesn't speak in his native tongue and it just sounds out of place to me. I liked his Grineer voice overs much better, not only becasue of the language but they just seemed to have more, how should I say...character. It just doesn't sound like Vor to me. Anybody else feel the same? Why exactly was this change necessary?
Aver Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 well hes trying to taunt us, i think he went the extra mile to make sure we understand how he see's us, the rest of the grineer cant be bothered but Vor likes looking smart
-Himari- Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Does Vor in the Void say oh see gar? Haven't heard him say that but, he may just be taking the extra step in speaking to us.
Babce Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Ruk can speak English and hes a $&*&*#(%& kumara. What makes you think Vor (who is the highest ranking Grineer out yet) would not be able to speak it ? Edited June 16, 2014 by Babce
Ionus Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 I just think this: http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/2/29/CapVorTaunt6.ogg Sounds better than this: http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/7/7c/CapVorNewTaunt6.ogg
CelticMoss Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Ruk can speak English and hes a $&*&*#(%& kumara. What makes you think Vor (who is the highest ranking Grineer out yet) would not be able to speak it ? he's higher rank then General sargas ruk?

What makes you think Vor (who is the highest ranking Grineer out yet) would not be able to speak it ? Ruk outranks Vor though. He's a General, while Vor is a Captain. And if you count Hek, he probably stands over them both.
Zero_Effect Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I prefer the insult of not bothering to use our language. Also Grineer is a language that is fun to listen to. It's the German of Warframe.
Paradoxbomb Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah, I found it a bit strange too. I assumed he could "talk" in English in the Void because he become some kind of superior being with telepathic mumbo-jumbo going on, but then I played Tolstoj and sure enough "I see you!" I'm not outright against it, but I admit I did prefer the Grineer dialogue a bit more, it's gonna take some getting used to.
DaftMeat Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 A translation circuit was a part of a TARDIS Janus Key that allowed for the instantaneous translation of most languages spoken or written in the universe.
VegetableBasket Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I like the English Vor better, I at least understand his narrative and rhetoric now that it's in a language I speak. I would also accept Grineer language audio and subtitles, though.
Mr.ToastForPresident Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Because the voice actor spoke it in English... Capt. Obvious here
TrinityPrime Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Because he's inciteful enough to know if you're really going to insult someone, you do so in their own language.
Lost_Cartographer Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 He went english for the eventual Vor's Prize newbie experience. It helps when entering the game they can understand everything he's saying. We accept beings we can't communicate with as less than human naturally, even if they do look human(-ish, in the case of the Grineer.)
RahuHordika Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Slightly off topic but also another change, when you kill him in Mercury he no longer gets chopped in half but in Phobos he does.
Ionus Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 Ruk does speak a lot of Grineer when you fight him. http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/f/f2/SargasBattleCry1.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/6/68/SargasBossSpeech3.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/c/cf/SargasBattleCry2.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/b/b7/SargasBattleCry3.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/3/34/SargasBattleCry4.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/1/1e/SargasBattleCry5.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/b/b3/SargasBattleCry6.ogg http://images.wikia.com/warframe/images/3/32/SargasBattleCry7.ogg
