Schwadronaut Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 The pads players put on the ground, they don't serve as steps anymore. I keep falling through them. Not sure if that is intended but it certainly isn't in my favor. Just had to abort a capture mission with the target being suspended in mid-air and nobody being able to join as Loki due to the mission having expired. The target wouldn't change position even after me running across the entire map to capture boy scout number two. So my plan was to stack my way up there with team ammo restore pads like I have learned in previous versions. I kept clipping through them, like they weren't there. ----------------------------- TL;DR: - Give restore pads collision back so we can use them as makeshift ladder for bug workaround OR - Fix all bugs concerning floating objects so we don't have to. I recommend the forner.
-Upgreid- Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Even better: Make the bug official, and make deployable steps/stairs for us to use in the game. Looks better than jumping on top of restores, and allows us to get to places we couldn't before.
TC-Guardian Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah it was handy, but has been out for a long time. Hopefully they fix it, it was probably removed for performance.
Methanoid Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) it was mentioned in some previous patch notes, it should be this way tbh, it was often used as a way to bunnyhop/glitch up into hihg positions you couldnt normally get too, also if you hopped up from pad to pad to a high position when the pad expired youd glitch/remain stuck midair until you moved, this was a way to easymode some stuff like void defence missions where youd just hop real high and ogris/castana the hell out of stuff attacking the pod. it should remain as it is now tbh, fixed is fixed. aaaaand here an example of the glitch when i got bored on mobile defence a while back. Schwadronaut Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 It is not a fix if you create more way for bugs. Seriously, I can understand fixing the issue of players remaining afloat after expiration of the restore pad but considering how many other looming bugs there are that can only be overcome with clever use of the current bugs, it's irresponsible to remove the most minor of them. I'd first make sure that capture targets fall down before disallowing players floating. When all major issues are fixed, I'm fine with changes in restore pads but this example of a mission breaking bug shows me that there are more severe issues than nerfing players who spam Ogris - when you don't even balance out Ogris in the first place. I see your point, Methanoid, but this is like helping the bleeding man in the street by making him a sandwich. Nice idea for itself but entirely out of place when taking into account the larger picture. The reasoning that players can farm stuff too easily is nil when you (DE) intentionally make overpowered weapons that facilitate farming. I guess this is not going to get fixed and it makes me somewhat angry considering the overall bad quality of the current build in contrast to the highly entertaining basic concept and well made design work. This is the game type I want to play with a universe that has been copied together from several others but still has a style of its own. And it bothers me that no major fixing is done in spite of the community crying for improvement while irrelevant bits are changed around. Like pad collision. Did anyone ever file a ticket for that? "Excuse me, DE, but I am too powerful. Please ensure that this one way of cheating the game gets removed so I can test out the other 800 ways of spamming my way to victory." The maps are outright beautiful, the frames look pretty, the guns are interesting, the enemies are cool, so why can't we just get a UI without bugs, solid networking and capture targets that hit the ground after death? Because someone focuses his attention on minor crud. Okay, rant over. Topic answered.
