Otaiken Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) With the introduction of Melee 2.0 I tried to make melee only (or rather mainly) style work with many different frames. With some it works better than others.. which is why I came up with a mod idea that could help squishier "caster" frames with melee mainly playstyle. I found that Melee works great when you tank with your health. Mainly because of the Rage + Life Strike combo. Your health doesn't take as much damage even on higher levels AND you get some energy back, so you can sustain yourself. Where it falls appart though is with frames that just instantly melt when you down their shields. Improving armor won't help there as Steel Fiber just increases the very little that is already there. Rage will help up to a point, but sooner or later (sooner) you will just take too much damage to sustain yourself... you make one mistake and you're down. For this reason I came up with this mod Idea: Shield Booster (very original, I know) (TL;DR) While channeling you get +X% damage reduction to your shields (and ONLY shields, doesn't apply to health, so no stacking for HP tanks). I think it could cap at 50%. This doesn't decrease your efficiency, rather it drains your energy per second... (/TL;DR) so you can technically combine this with Rage + Life Strike.. but since you don't get energy back from shield damage + it drains you + it doesn't apply to shields + Life Strike is already costly = you would get drained fast. This would allow caster frames with a lot of energy and shield tanks to improve their melee capability, as they wouldn't have to stick to HP tanking or hit and run tactics only when going for melee only playstyle. It could be rather hard to pull off, but be viable playstyle. Just your sword and your abilities. Throw some stamina and shield recharge there and you have a completely new build. Or you could juse use it defensively, imho it could provide a lot of utility without being OP.. though if the shield drain was too high it could become pretty useless... maybe up the reduction to 75-90% at a massive cost?
