I have been wondering what new Warframes will be released in the future. Lately, the Warframes that we currently have feel slightly...repetitive in that they all pretty much go for either support, tank, offense, and defense.

The Prime versions are simply reskins with an extra polarity slot. Loki Prime, however, seems like a big upgrade to the original Loki because from what I understand, he has 4  polarity slots for mods (not the skill slots) with a higher energy pool. I think the current prime frames need to get a similar set up like Loki Prime; boost in energy, more polarity slots, and maybe higher health and shields.

Also, DE should create a frame that has a nice mix of offense and defense capabilities, something like Excalibur, but a stronger and possibly better version.

Besides that, I think Warframe should have an upgrade system for the frames based on the upgrade system in SWTOR. In SWTOR, each body piece can be upgraded separately. Why not implement that into Warframe? Helmets, chassis, and systems will receive their own mods and upgrades which players can choose from. This would have eliminated that whole scandal with helmets having poor stats. Simply choose modifications that you want for greater customization and utility.

Also, I have noticed that if you have a frame that has been fully ranked up with a reactor and had forma put in it, prime variants become sort of useless. I know that they are worth mastery points but you end up playing a fancier looking frame just to use the exact same play style. I am pretty sure people have mentioned before that prime frames should have their own sets of abilities and different play styles and I can see why.

TL;DR

Bottom line, what sort of updates should we expect to see in the future?

What do you mean?

One thing that people expect from Scott:

Nerfs!

but then again lots of people liked the balance pass done to Nova, Banshee, Trinity etc.

So really it ends up as what your opinion of the changes are.

And to your question OP: They normally release new (non-prime) frames at every major update, while this could change, that's how its been for a while now, people are speculating that the frame coming will be an Earth Frame.

An Earth Frame you say? I suspect that might be a strange mix between Hydroid and Rhino. Maybe some Ember characteristics put in there.

Anyway, don't you feel that the prime frames feel a bit lacking?

Rumors are going around about the earth frame since earth is the last element that needs one. We've had Ember for ages, then in U12 we got Zephyr and U13 gave us Hydroid. I imagine an earth frame to be tanky and have a lot of damaging CC. Maybe the ability to summon an AoE of strangling vines that do damage over time while holding those in the AoE in place. Maybe even something cool like making a mini-volcano as an ult.

As for the Primes, I agree that for the most part someone who has a multi-Forma'd mundane version of a frame that has a Prime probably has no need of a Prime. But some people just want the new model or the gold bling. I prefer to try getting a Prime weapon/frame's stuff myself and only resort to trading when I am completely burnt our on climbing the RNG wall this game has. For me, being able to build a Prime, be it a weapon or frame, is something special. I have busted my butt for this shiny, new thing that has improved stats.

However, right now as far as I know, the only Prime frames that has improvements beyond the extra polarity are Rhino Prime(who has a slightly higher speed than Rhino) and Loki(who has a slightly higher max energy of 175). I suppose you could say Excalibur Prime came with the added bonus of a V aura polarity AND a regular extra polarity so there's that. I've heard rumors that DE said eventually all the Primes will have some kind of minor stat buff like RhiPri and LokiPri have.

I feel like DE is updating the game very slowly. Take a look at World of Tanks or SWTOR, those two games are getting updates almost every day. Might be the categories that those two games are in.

BTW, what gender is the Earth frame going to be? Probably male...

We don't know the gender. An earth frame as a female could let them tie things into the whole Gaia/Earth Mother stuff. After all they tied Oberon to faeries(Oberon is the faerie king in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream afterall).

If Eath frame is next, its going to be female.

They make the gender of the new frames by: M,F,M,F,M,F.....

Hydroid is male, and was the last frame released.
