AureusVulpes Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Ok, so a friend and myself were discussing in PMs how annoying it is to see the same reward over and over again in Defense and Survival void missions. After a period of time, we came to the idea that maybe, after a reward appears, its chance to drop (as a %) gets cut in (not necessarily an even)half, and the half that was removed, gets distributed amongst EVERY OTHER possible reward, even others that may have already appeared. This would promote players going deep into survival or defense, with RNG constantly shifting more and more toward that elusive whatever prime as they go. Players would feel less discouraged as they get deeper and would be encouraged to do longer runs than many short ones. Please only post constructive feedback. Obvious trolling, nonsense posts, and insults toward others will be reported swiftly. EDIT: Might go well with this post: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/247163-defense-missionschoose-your-reward/ Edited June 16, 2014 by AureusVulpes
Dhrekr Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 This is actually quite a clever idea. The likelihood of a single drop decreasing every time that it is dropped during the game would make it very stimulating to go on for a very long time. RNG will still be a troll, though, but maybe slightly less. Or slightly more when you get the same drop three times and you know that it's happened despite the decrease in chance. Well done OP!

I'm sure most people have felt the pain of seeing the same drop occur over and over after several waves, and it does get rather tiring. If we didn't want the rare 5 core bundle on wave one, why would we want it on 10, 15, or 20? On an unrelated note, the idea of a drop being removed completely is unfair to the development team. It would also mean having a finite pool of loot, and it would take away from people who want to go for as long as they can because that's what they find fun. And that's perfectly fine. People do different things with their keys. Their keys belong to them, they can do what they want with em. But having a drop be removed would only be necessary if it ever got to the point where we had 20 different things in survival or defense.... which I'm sure would not go well with the playerbase to begin with.
5stareraser Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Anything that works for killing RNG gods even a bit have my approval.
Dogoframe Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) -snip- It is a good idea for players, but not only against DE design history, but also less profitable for the company. Rewarding skill in a game that is generally regarded as way too easy is counter productive when the company is seeking profit thru package deals that include said rewards. If people could gather Prime parts based on their efficiency in overcoming the ingame enemies, DE loses one of two primary motivators for Prime Access purchases, one being hurry, the other being frustration. I guess this subject will get the same treatment from DE as cumulative Defense rewards, it will be mentioned in Livestreams, the staff will exchange uncomfortable looks, it will be declared a good idea, worth considering, and left at that. I'm not sure which of my posts you snipped, so it's difficult for me to reply appropriately. In regards to one, it doesn't necessarily have to be exactly half. It could be a mere 10%, 25%something in between. I only posted a concept with a variable. In regards to removing the already passed reward altogether..... I also feel this is a bad way to handle it (as mentioned), but others have posted it elsewhere and i wanted to post my stance here on that topic before someone else brought it here.
