Sasquatchias Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) I'd love to see them farm for some of the rare-er Prime stuff and see first-hand how bad the Drop Tables in the Void can be. It'd be especially great if they were to try and farm Loki Prime. Also I'm thinking that I'm coming off as &!$$y/whiny about this, sorry if I do sound like that. Edit: And for clarification this is not feedback (at least it is not my intent), but instead a proposal on something DE can do in one of their next livestreams meant to spark some discussion. Cemges Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 No you are right they just set up idiotic random values and call that a drop table.
SignumCruxis Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 You should be thankful all those "random" values add up to 100%, tbh.
CrunkTanium Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 You should be thankful all those "random" values add up to 100%, tbh. Because you saw the code amrite?
Celle-Reveris Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 ....because you're guaranteed a reward every run.
Sasquatchias Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Because you saw the code amrite? I assume it does actually add up to 100% since we're guaranteed at least something from the drop tables. Question is what are the individual values/our chances at getting a specific part?
Frostosti Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 why would anyone watch someone else farm instead of playing the game themselves ?
(PSN)StoneRevolver Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 why would anyone watch someone else farm instead of playing the game themselves ? You're missing the point.
CaveCricket48 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 You should be thankful all those "random" values add up to 100%, tbh. Man, I love all these keys and cores. Can't get enough of 'em.
Cemges Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Man, I love all these keys and cores. Can't get enough of 'em. Said nobody ever
Grimfrost Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Said nobody ever You are one of those "oneliners-like-hunters"?
Lunamaniac Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Mag Prime parts = 95% chance of dropping. Must be. ESPECIALLY EVERY 20 MINUTES ON T4 SURVIVAL. Ahem.
hades9511 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Well it would be interesting, I think Megan and Rebecca already did something like this when they did the vay hek boss battle. Should be great if they can try farming loki prime or even better the elusive bo prime handle.
r110platinum Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 It would be interesting, for them to see really how random the drops can be. I don't think you can really understand it until you've played it for yourself. It's frustrating trying over and over again to get the parts you want, when some people have already gotten their parts and extra for them to be making hundreds of them in trading. I just talked to a guy who has gotten 4 extra chassis when I can't even get one. He's already made 500+ profit in trading just doing this. This then brings up another point though. Warframe being free to play, DE has to come up with ways to make money, mainly by either selling prime access packs, or from people buying platinum to get at the parts. So there has to be some sort of balance between the drop rate of parts and the incentive to spend money. Maybe its because of this reason that DE hasn't changed the RNG drop system all this time. If they made the drops more predictable or more common, people wouldn't bother with prime access or buying platinum to get at parts. And then there's the lucky few who are making major profit off of this prime release who won't need to buy platinum for years.
Inquisitioner Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 why would anyone watch someone else farm instead of playing the game themselves ? Good question.
DJ_Redwire Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I wouldn't waste your breath. Many a time have we watched Megan and Rebecca try and farm prime parts on Prime Time, sometimes extra rare ones, only to watch RNGesus pour out his good graces to them and hand them over as if it was destiny. If that's really what you're after, you need only wait for Thursday to be wholeheartedly disappointed in the outcome. >"Today we'll go looking for a Bo Prime handle!" ...followed shortly by it landing in their lap. Be careful what you wish for OP. In other news, we know that they test these things regularly. Believe me, I'm on your side here - it's hard for any person in their right state of mind to look at those tables and say they are free of flaws. I want them to fix it as much as the next guy, but also believe me that trying to tempt fate is only going to eat away at you later. Test, post feedback, wait for a response. I know it sucks and feels pointless right now, but it's all we can do to help cull the issue.
Zerohades Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Have you ever heard about games giving 0.01% chance to drop that "F****** over needed" stuff you want. Farming everyday for weeks without looting the item? Because I played that type of game, (Lineage, Aion, Tera, ect... ) and I can say for sure that Warframe is soft in comparison... So stop whining and grind. Less time on the forum and more IG to play!!! PS Yesterday i sold one loki (except BP) for 500 plats ont the market. So it's possible. Not easy but possible. And I mostly play survival T4 alone because of my connection. Zerohades
Noxonion Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Update 13.9 Void Missions have a random chance to give rewards @ extraction, and those rewards are random, too ;) Have fun. inb4 that actually happens (probably) :O
Blatantfool Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 DE isn't one person. Be specific. Who do you expect to do all that playing? Because depending on who you pick you could very well be asking someone to not work on something important long enough to visually confirm something all of us - including the guys at DE - already know. Yes. The drops really suck.
Habataki Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Well it would be interesting, I think Megan and Rebecca already did something like this when they did the vay hek boss battle. Should be great if they can try farming loki prime or even better the elusive bo prime handle. If only DE just remove fusion cores from Tower IV Exterminate reward, I'd be overjoyed.

I suppose the people who actually make the Drop Tables should be the ones to test it, having Megan or Rebecca doesn't quite help with that since they're not intimately involved with the process
Sixty5 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 If only DE just remove fusion cores from Tower IV Exterminate reward, I'd be overjoyed. Rare drops would still be rare. the only difference would be that instead of a R5 bundle you'd get something useless like a Frost Helm. Stuff like the cores exist to fill up the drop table in those locations. Stuff like Bo Prime handle would still have a ~5% drop rate regardless of whether the R5 cores were there or not.
Blatantfool Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I suppose the people who actually make the Drop Tables should be the ones to test it, having Megan or Rebecca doesn't quite help with that since they're not intimately involved with the process Fair enough. Though I gotta admit, I don't know what you expect. I mean - say they go through with this. A straight up Livestream "Until we get Loki Prime!". So everyone is sitting around for hours on end watching...what? Like I mentioned earlier, isn't that just like answering a question you already know the answer to? Is it feeling really crap to work these rates? Absolutely.
