Scherhardt Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Shred is a must have mod on rifles like serration/split chamber.
Shinobi-kun Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Yes. If you've got the ammo and space for it. Why no? Going pro-Grineer?
Aggh Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I'd personally just put on more damage. Being able to hit another enemy after killing the first one isn't going to do you much good when your first target starts tanking more at higher levels because you had to forgo a damage mod.
Churpy Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 No. The Boltor Prime has innate punch through or at least a similar effect. Check the wiki: Knocks target back on kill, dealing damage to nearby enemies behind the target. http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Boltor_Prime It is unnecessary, use more damage mods.

You can shoot much more than 2 enemies at a time with Shred on... Edited June 17, 2014 by Taikaponi
Aggh Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) You can shoot much more than 2 enemies at a time with Shred on... Depends on the type of enemy. You'll need to put on a metal auger to kill more than 2 chargers for instance. In the long run more damage is better. Shred's only advantage is slightly better ammo economy, but that sees diminishing returns as enemies level up. Even an ammo mutator would be better over all unless you're just sticking to low level stuff. Edited June 17, 2014 by Aggh
Taikaponi Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Depends on the type of enemy. I haven't seen too many fat enemies around in Warframe.
deth_monkey69 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I like it for firing through cover at enemies, and the fire rate increase is nice, but it's not essential.
Sabreracer Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 The question is how many forma on it? Mine has 4 forma so yes
Sloan441 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 It's not strictly necessary on the BoltorP, but it is nice for dealing with enemies behind cover or things like shield lancers. I don't use it on the infested loadout, but do on grineer and corpus.
(PSN)JINMBAO-79 Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Yea i read the wiki on the knockback fing and that was what got me finking yes or no. Planing 2 put 4 mayby 5 forma in it but not sure on the shred is realy whort it i do like the firerate whit shred. Sory my spelling im frome the land of vikings
__Simba__ Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Yes it is a nice mod for that gun. I literally took down Vor in T4 in less than 10 sec (4 forma build) Trust me it is an insane mod to have on that gun :)
Darzk Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I like it on hitscan weapons, but find it unneeded on a weapon with innate knockback. If you want RoF use Speed Trigger for 23% more burst DPS.
(PSN)JINMBAO-79 Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 I love shred on my soma and i realy like 2 shot them bhind cover,i even use the punchtrhu mod on my most loved 3 forma despair its so awsome on the despar taking down horeds of enemys. But the boltor prime i still dont know if or not to use shred and the reason im not shure is that knockback that the boltor has
Ryjeon Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 It really depends on the mission. If the enemies are dying quickly enough then Boltor's innate push-through on kills will be enough to deal with stacked enemies. But later when the enemies get more sturdy you'll do a lot more damage cutting through multiple enemies with shred.
(PSN)JINMBAO-79 Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 yea that was what i was thinking 2 so i think i go whit shred
BIossome Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Yes. I can't see myself using it without Shred on.
DangerDaddy Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I haven't seen too many fat enemies around in Warframe. anything that is on 4 legs (such as infested/harverster) will not be punched through. and Shred is good if you're going against swarms, but not so good if you're going against anything else, serration, multi-shot, all 4 corrosive mods (tethra/cicero/and both elemental) combined with the correct Bane mod and that leaves you with an open slot to either put on an extra (probably fire) elemental mod, or to place on your shred.
