Shehriazad Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) That other company is also managing a F2P game. (I'm not sure if I can call out other companies or games in this forum, so I won't)But to clarify, that company manages a Hack and Slay game that has a skilltree with over 1200 skills to pick from the often so called Skilldrasil(that should give it away). And no...I am not talking about any of the game features itself. That company has spoiled me in another way...which is why I am always around sounding like an entitled prick because I haven't heard any news about the state of the game development here @ the Warframe forums.Basically that Dev will post news about how everything is progressing on an almost daily basis via newsposts on their page and forums. Not always is it about upcoming patches, but it is hard to actually not be informed about what is happening in and around that game as they are always transparent about their progress and plans.I really wish that if DE were ever to copy something from any developer out there...it would be that. There are an average of about 5 newsposts per week from that company. Some days 0, some days more than 1. And only on weekends there is silence (which is kinda obvious). Before you go around saying that DE does that...they really don't. They do reply to random forum posts at times, but that is a different thing. Please DE, hear my plea...I want to know all your dirty little secrets.Edit: Something was pointed out to me that I actually forgot...the workshop forum. This would have been somewhat of an equivalent. But DE seemingly abandoned that place... .shame on you ;P Edited June 17, 2014 by Shehriazad
BrotherIcarus Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Well they have a dev stream every two weeks that is already a lot more than most devs.
Angius Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Grineer Workshop was supposed to be a place like that (and was... During maybe the first month) but now it's deserted. DE has a tendency of staring something and leaving it to wither...
iNsaNitySOZ Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 It may not be the most practical idea ever, but I like it.

Like they did forget about the lore and how they forget about issues that community is pointing out.

VegetableBasket Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 OP is talking about Grinding Gear Games and Path of Exile which is totally allowed on the forums. Steve even said he played it for a bit during an earlier livestream. I wish DE would take some more time to talk about what they're doing and why, but, eh, DE do a better job than most devs that I've seen. I'm okay with their level of communication but I think more emphasis needs to be put into the "why"s of their design decision rather than just previewing everything.
Loswaith Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I agree with VegetableBasket, knowing the 'why' they went a certain way with decisions I think would help players understand the behind the scenes better and help alliveate alot of the complaints players have when new things get added, as it can let us see it from the Devs point of view. It also helps us share the same vision DE has of Warframe on the whole. PoE I would say goes beyond the required level of information, but then Grinding Gear games is also alot smaller team too so its easier to keep track of what each individual is working on.

You really want to know why they chosen this way for Warframe? If they shared the truth ( and we all know what is it ), community would be disappointed and maybe outraged.
Lost_Cartographer Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 While hearing about what they're doing is nice for planning, I have actually little interest in constant, trivial updates without substantial information. I really don't want to see them slam twitter with frequent quickie updates on something irrelevant to the problems people will tweet and return, and their inevitable complete silence towards any of them.
direcyphre Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Personally, I'd rather they stick to development than posting status updates. For the same reason, most supervisors are not all that pleased when an employee is on Facebook when they could be doing their job. Devstreams get the job done to me, as they make most every other devstream look pretty terrible by comparison (as I follow a few others myself).
Acos Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I'm fine with the current amount of developer exposure. I do not need them literally crouched in my apartment telling me about their day. I have no intentions of marrying Steve.
