Icymountain Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Alright, as you all know, weapon types currently all have a standard ammo pool. For example, rifles have 540, pistols 210, shotguns 120, and so on. Now, this obviously creates certain inconsistencies with ammo consumption. For example, use the Soma, and unless you're actively picking up all those little blue pickups, you're likely going to run out of ammo fast. Even then, at higher levels, you're still going to run out of ammo. However, use something like the Latron Prime, and it's damn near impossible to run out of ammo. Furthermore, ammo pickups give a standard amount of ammo per pickup, no matter the gun. This again, creates even more inconsistencies. With the Soma, a pickup gives you only 1/5ths of a magazine, while with a Penta, it gives you 4 full magazines. This basically makes some weapons a hell lot more ammo efficient than others. So, here's my proposal. Each weapon type (Rifle/Shotgun/Pistol/Sniper) has ammo reserves based on the size of their standard, base magazines. Ammo pickups restores 10% of the base ammo reserve. Rifles will get 10 magazines worth of ammo in reserve. Can be increased by Ammo Drum up to a maximum of 1.3x, meaning 13 magazines. Shotguns get 20 magazines as well. Shell Compression increases this by 1.3x, meaning 26 magazines. Pistols get 20 magazines. Can be increased by 1.9x to 38 magazines with Trick Mag. Note, for dual pistols, this would mean 40 magazines, since each reload consumes 2 magazines. Snipers get 10 magazines. Ammo Drum pumps it up to 13 magazines. Alright, so thats just the general idea. Certain weapons would have to be tweaked a little more of course, especially ones like Vectis or Tigris. But generally, weapons would have a reserve based on their magazines size, meaning single shot weapons would still be more efficient than automatic weapons, but not as much as how they are currently. Seriously, try running out of ammo on a Latron Prime.
