This would be a mod that would be equippable on a warframe, and would allow the player to do a quick dash in the direction he/she's currently running when shift is double tapped, instead of the current doge roll. I'm thinking the speed equivalent of Excal's Slash Dash or Zephyr's Tailwind but with no damage.

 

I think this would make playing in melee mode a lot of fun as players dash in and out of combat, and use it as a sort of panic button if they're fast enough. It would add to gunplay too, and I'm sure you can think of plenty of ways this would impact shotgunners, snipers, anyone.

 

Fusions would make the dash go farther, and the frame would be invincible for the duration of the dash so fusions would effectively extend the invincibilty duration. Perhaps a set cooldown of two seconds or so can be added to prevent this thing from being spammed, and/or add in a small power cost of say, 10. Alternatively, it could cost a big chunk of stamina to avoid being spammed.

 

It would make the Gineer sticky bombs fall off like the regular dodge does, but also break homing rockets' tracking. I realize this would be the first warframe mod that's not an ability to be something other than passive, but I don't think this is quite fleshed out enough to be a skill, either. It's a mod in the truest sense of the word, a modification on an existing thing- in this case, the dodge roll.

Or, how about adding a UT-like dodge/dash mechanic instead of a mod?

 

Double tap a directional key and bam.

Or assigning the regular dodge roll to a directional key like UT as you suggest, but adding in my mod to turn that into a quick dash based on a double tapped directional key?

 

Regardless, I hadn't even thought about how smooth it was to dodge around in UT with the double tapping WASD system. Having something like that in Warframe would be fantastic, and would fit really well into the current gameplay.

Now, that's type of mods I would like to see - gameplay customization rather then flat stat increase. It's easier to accomplish with simple trade-offs but mechanics change is way more interesting. However total invincibility sounds too OP - simple damage reduction, just like during regular roll, would be more than enough.

Double tapping directional key to execute manoeuvre is just a matter of key mapping.
