I believe some of you remember Void Storms - from Arid Fear Event when we invaded Corpus ships to recover data on Grineer Settlements on Phobos.

Quote from a Warframe wiki : Unique only to the Arid Fear Event, during Corpus Void missions a Void Storm will occasionally happen every 30 seconds. The screen will briefly turn purple with an effect in the center of the screen. This is purely visual however.

With the late implementation of T4 missions and the title "Depths of the Void" I thought, yeah ..... every Void mission is the same, Corrupted Vor isn't really that much of a change.

What my idea is..... let's put Void Storms into T4 missions.

Picture for a reference, source is Warframe wiki:

Thinking, Void Storms could happen if the Orokin Tower is damaged or couldn't handle Void energy, it's freakin' Orokin tower we talking about. However, T4 are depths of the Void... depths, like deep into the Void, get me? Void influence is stronger there right, so those storms could happen lore wise.

Now, we don't want them only to be visual hazards do we? Well, at least I want them to be something more.  Void Energy would break into the Tower in which we are doing specific mission and influence us or enemies.

My idea of Void Storms in T4 missions. Void Storms effect shows up not every 30+ seconds but rather every 3-7 minutes.

What should Void Storms do?

1) Debuffs all the Tenno within mission by either, lowering their shields, lowering their energy or slowing their movements.

2) Some Void Storm outbreaks can instead of debuffing, buff enemy units by increasing their speed, dmg etc.

3) LISTEN NOW! Some Void Storms could buff the Tenno by increasing their speed, power limit, life or shields.

Every buff/debuff lasts few seconds to 1 minute.

Sick idea huh? Would make T4 like the ultimate Void end-game farming grounds, extremely hard and interesting. I'd like that. To make T4 less of a challange with Void Storms let's say after wave 25+ and 30mins+ frequency of Void Storms is lower, like storms would pop up every 7-10min.

Options 1), 2), 3) and a type of buff/debuff would be random, like a true RNG territory. Let's face the truth Tenno brothers, even Orokins couldn't understand the Void. Tenno have a deep connection with the Void so those storms could affect them in different ways( that's the source of my buff/debuff idea).

PS. Those Void Storm effects ofc would need some graphical changes to look more Void-like (Vod transmission background etc.).

Hate me. Tell me. What are your opinions?

Wow. Interesting. Since I've never been to a single T4 mission, I can't decide whether is it OP or not, but seems to be a great idea!

I'm a bit concerned about adding even more RNG elements that's outside of player's skills and control. However, to be perfectly honest, in my opinion, your suggestion does sound pretty nice!

Additionally, since the frequency will be quite small, having Lotus warn us of a storm a few seconds before it could be handy as well. It won't be as annoying as the "Heavy Grineer approaching" spam, and it will actually be a useful comment. In fact, she can go as far as let us know what kind of storm it will be through her comments (she won't directly say "the next void storm will make you stronger" of course; that would be bad).

Agree on the idea, disagree on the debuffs/buffs. it's just more fake difficulty. We need some interesting challenges, something like hitscan weapons having travel time,  zero G (holy skite that'd be hard do pull off), Hud disrupted etc.

+1 though

I completely forgot about the void storms and while i think it is a cool idea to bring them back it would suck to be far into a defense mission and have your entire team get wiped because rngesus felt like it was a good idea to super charge a horde of angry corrupted :d but i guess it all comes down to how it is balanced.

It was just on spot idea to write about random buffs/debuffs. I am so bored today and totally not in the mood to participate in Wednesday Megathread and I just remembered Void Storms, just like that it popped onto my head. Voids Storms would be amazing hazard as pure visual but buffs/debuffs would add this Void's unpredictable character theme to the game.

I am not talking about unbalanced debuffs for you and your teammates, more like small ones just to be extra careful during the mission when they occur. However, you might be right, it'd create lil'bit more of "fake" difficulty to the Orokin Void. I was thinking as crazy as I could and since we can't fight RNGesus directly why not embrace it.

Lowered gravity, scrambling HUD or travel time for hitscan wep(like slow mo?) are great ideas too. Interesting ones and maybe even better than buffs/debuffs.

Imagine speed buff on enemies and super accelerated Corrputed Ancient running against you. You'd shoot like crazy kid to kill him, lil' bit of adrenaline is always good. No dmg buffs, in original post I was too "crazy" in my thinking. If option to buff enemies seems bit overrated, let's add 4th possiblility, enemy debuffs = super slo' enemies, low shields, chaos effect etc.

PS. Void Storm appears and some enemies start to float like ducks( Bastille effect). Paranormal Void'tivity! <(^^<)
