RuFi0 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Tenno, watch ehout!" "You are running ehout of time." Rebecca, next time you're recording new lotus lines, I want someone to smack you in the back of the head as hard as they can until you go "OW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then you'll be ready to be the Lotus, and not Canadian Rebecca recording Lotus lines. I'll admit, you read the lines well, but your canadian ehwh comes out when you read "ow" words. Just sayin'.

Xylia Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 The OP woulda loved Lotus pre-voice scrambling effects. I miss the old Lotus.
Archistopheles Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I made a thread like this quite a long time ago... It was aboot the same thing, but I tried to be a subtle as possible as to not offend.
[DE]Momaw Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 The voiced lines are fine. Stop reaching for things to complain about. >_>
XandoCalrissian Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I don't really notice her accent at all. And accent complaints are silly since everybody has an accent of some kind.
RuFi0 Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 It's not horribly bad, it's just unmistakably canadian. Every line she speaks is perfectly articulate, and then "You are running ehout of time..." Just do this Rebecca:
Sirabot Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) The OP woulda loved Lotus pre-voice scrambling effects. I miss the old Lotus. I miss old lotus too. new one is just boring compared to the old. No offence rebecca, you have a nice voice, but it doesn't fit the lotus without the FX, it just doesn't seem very scfi Edited June 20, 2014 by Sirabot

Dogoframe Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Breaking news: Not only one country speaks English, and not everyone who does needs to bow to the Muhrica way of doing so. So much better to listen to accents in games instead of, say, Billy Bob voicing Vay Hek and Mary Sue voicing Lotus.

And what exactly 'is' an American accent? New York? Northeast Corridor? Southern? Mid Western? Any of California's several regional varieties? Bostonian? Detroit urban? Seriously, which is the 'american' accent? Also,. in case you missed it, the standard trope for sci-fi is archetype english accent. Edited June 20, 2014 by Hexagoros
Tyranness Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Lotus is allowed a Canadian Accent. I don't even notice it. Maybe cus I'm Canadian. You probably have such a hard un-understandable accent to us. And the Eh is only from people mainly from Toronto and the Eastern Coast. Seriously, who complains about accents, Lotus has no defined origin. She could sound Irish and you'd have to deal with it.
Shifted Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 As long as it's not a heavy redneck accent, y'all in NA sound the same here in EU. :P

Don't get your panties in a twist. I would have never known Rebecca was from Canada had I not heard the eh's in her ou's. Like I said, everything she says is perfectly articulate, it's just one thing that sticks out that I noticed. Calm down people.

Might ask the guy who suggested someone slap a DE employee in the head so that she speaks in an accent he approves of.

-SLX-J3tAc3 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I like her voice - didn't even notice the accent. To each his own, I suppose. I'm curious about the old Lotus everyone is referring to, though. Any Youtube vids someone can shoot my way so I can hear her too?
[DE]Momaw Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Canadian? Lotus sounds like SHODAN. SHODAN is a bit higher pitched and crisper on the consonants. But I'm sure Rebeccca would appreciate the comparison to a power-mad AI with delusions of godhood.
