This Event's Scoring System

I like the scoring system here, but it seems like it does a disadvantage to solo players.

I think this event kind of proves that DE does not really care about solo players.

It's actually better on solo players because you only have yourself to blame for failing then.

In pubs, you will always find someone who destroys your point value.

I'd agree with you, except that the Devs themselves have stated in a devstream (forgot which, if someone has that could they kindly post it) that they want to make this game as enjoyable for Solo players as it is for Co-op players. So I no longer buy that argument of "this isn't meant to be a solo game."

I hate this scoring system and I think DE didn't put nearly enough thought into this event before releasing it.

There. I said it.

They're probably trying to find a good scoring system with each event. :P This being one of many so far.

You would not believe the amount of people in region chat asking how scoring works and "how do I increase my score?"

So many people ignorant to update notes and wiki and google.

I love this scoring system. Pick a squad and stick with them. Only took me maybe 8 runs to get 51.

This system works best in consistent coordinated groups. Which is something not done in any other mission.  Running with coordinated groups worked best for other events, but they didn't always have to be the same group.
Soloing is at least on par with PuGing in this system. Consistency that you will always increase your score, or gamble on pairing up with someone higher than you and leeching their score to boost your own. Kind of an equal deal.

I would say its a failure of a system because we really shouldn't be puzzling out how an events scoring system works. It should be simple and clear and easy to understand.

They've said on many occasions this game is meant to be as much a solo game as it is a co-op.

Also theyve said before that they are using this beta and a feedback from events to get a better understand of the new ground theyre pushing going from single player games, to a MMO-co-op

its true but i cant remember which dev stream it was. late 10's or early 20's i think

Rolling with others = score is averaged (meaning your accumulator can be 100 points if you solo'd, but if you're paired with a player who has an accumulator of 5~9 that hasn't run the mission yet, your per-run score is turned into 55 ish).

Rolling by yourself = your accumulator score (every time you run the mission your accumulator builds up by 2 or so, takes approx 19 runs to get your accumulator up to 48 points)

Basically the ONLY way to reliably get a huge amount of points is to run the event multiple times. When you run with others you might get a higher score--but this is only because someone else has a MUCH higher accumulator, and your lower accumulator is actually hindering their score. The inverse is true as well, in that you might get 100 points a run if you go solo but if you match up with someone with a low accumulator your score goes into the gutter.

I could be wrong then. Since so many people said that the scoring system is pretty good. Like I said, I like it, but solo players may still be at a disadvantage. Many people are solo not by choice, but because of poor internet connection. If you have to solo the whole event, I believe it will definitely take a lot more runs than a team.

WAT? Solo scoring is actually better from my experience. It took our premade team around 12 runs to get to 40 and then we went solo and got 48 in 3 runs

Solo is better?  I present to you, math:

It takes 12 runs to make 40 points, which is 3.333~ points per run for everyone.  Then going solo takes 3 runs for 8 points, which is 2.666~ points per run for only yourself.

Not to mention that going solo means you have no backup, so you're the sole target of hundreds of very grumpy infested, and a single mistake can leave you wasting revives.

Getting extra points and not having other people leech off of you was enough to make it worth-while for me, but I guess no amount of consideration is enough for some people.

Heck, look at the recruitment channel, 90% of it is people trying to start groups full of high scored players so they could leech off of them.
