(Which, by the way, what the F*** are you doing providing this awesome art for free? C'mon man, value your work, this is frigging awesome, charge for it!) But oh well, work ethics aside, awesome concept man. I would totally have this shirt.

If he charged/profited off of artwork using icons, characters or art from a copyrighted/trademarked property belonging to a company, he'd be committing theft. Basically anything using imagery from Warframe, such as artwork (fan art) falls under the trademark which Digital Extremes owns. Basically he has to provide the artwork for free, otherwise he could be sued. He could make a T-Shirt with his own art for personal use, but it would be illegal to then sell copies of those shirts to others.

When the "custom design" contains images, characters or artwork that falls under a company's intellectual property (in this case having an image of Nekros, the Warframe "Lotus" and the Soma weapon), then it's illegal to profit off of said images, characters or artwork without the company's permission. You can't profit off of something that someone else owns, and in this case Digital Extremes "owns" several images in this artwork of his. Although he created it from scratch, it's still obviously Nekros, and because Digital Extremes owns the character Nekros, they by extension hold intellectual property rights over this design. This is why it's illegal to sell and profit off of fan-art which uses characters, trademarked names or images which belong to someone else's intellectual property. The only way you can sell it is if you're licensed to by the IP's owner.

The man also speaks the truth. I knew while designing this if I were to market it without the consent of DE I would be sued. The smart move now is for DE to hire me to make them dozens of amazing shirts to get that weak &#! shop looking like it should for a game this sweet.
