taiiat Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 the Gun part of it isn't that amazing, but the 'beach balls' it can toss around, add Radiation Damage to anything that passes through them. and they stack if things pass through multiple. you can get a LOT of Radiation if you spend your time to line things up.

But a rifle that can't be focus? I rather DE choose shotgun. Genocide, my son. Genocide. Tried but no use. (Tried it during breeding ground, not much use.)

MSD3000 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Besides the weapon looking like a broken pogo stick that shoots beach balls...the functions of the weapon seems busted too. The beach balls block friendly fire altogether every time I've used them. They also bounce off of infested chargers, making them useless against that faction. (I think the fact that chargers now damage things in front as they run, pushes the balls away) Slapping the beach balls around with a melee weapon is mild fun, but they seem to go where ever they want, not in a cohesive direction from the blow. Some people claim the alt fire can suck up Mutalisk crop-dustings but I haven't noticed that effect at all. It feels like another Miter. Starts off as a novel idea thats really broken and useless, and hopefully gets buffed and reworked enough to become awesome later down the road. LOTS of work to do on this one though...

MSD3000 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 The bubbles need more interplay with the primary fire anyway. Doing irradiation damage for bullets that pass through is pretty tame, even if it worked. The primary fire just feels like a fall back for a secondary fire that isn't terribly useful. What about making it function more like the shock rifle from Unreal Tournament. Only instead of single-shot primary's that explode the bubbles like nukes, you get a bunch of little explosions...let me break that idea down. You shoot out a bubble, then you can unload on it with primary fire, for every 5th bullet (from a Quanta) primary fire the sphere gives off a pulse of damage, every pulse gets slightly bigger and slightly more damaging until the bubble times out and bursts like normal. This would give you a good reason for the primary fire, other than just being another bullet hose. The spheres could act as deployable area-denial weapons due to the pushback from the damage pulses. Melee enemies could also be programmed to try and swat them out of the way for their bullet happy brethren. But I'm just forum poster, what do I know....

It should not be this weak considering the time it takes to research and build, and also the sheer cost and mastery requirement. It needs to be somewhere in between a boltor and boltor prime. maybe 38-44 physical damage per shot also, beachball needs work. It is too small to be a usable shield, it is not transparent so you cant see what you are shooting at, and it takes 11 years to explode so you cant aim at anything. I would like to see you pick one of these things and improve it. Either: make it transparent so you can use it to buff dmg. make it detonate on enemy impact for reliable aoe <--- this is what i'd like to see done make it larger so it can properly cover 1 tenno

It needs to be somewhere in between a boltor and boltor prime. maybe 38-44 physical damage per shot Honestly, I'd rather DE just increase the radioactive sphere limit. That way we're free to use Split Chamber to achieve 50% of Boltor P's DPS (which is still a damn hefty amount for the amount of CC the weapon has) without gimping ourselves.
