They both had the same coloration and was announced as wildlife animals, but the kubrow was the only thing that was hyped on. So that got me wondering, will they ever put that bird-thing in game as only a enemy, or will it end up like the kubrow and actually be a pet? EDIT: Or pecking out enemy eyes. EDIT 2: Or scouting ahead and putting Red Enemy Marks on my MAP (can be useful for Stealth, alternative to that mod you can't fit on your frame build). As far back as October they had art in the codex under "Wildlife" showing 2 variants of wild kubrow, 1 variant of domestic and 1 of armored. It was set up a while ago.
