AnOldAlias
My own person opinion on the Mutalisk Quanta is as follows:1: The weapon's main fire suffers from damage drawback that, while it is rapid-fire, doesn't do as much damage as I'd fully expect it to(opinion!). The spinning rotation of the weapon makes the shooting a bit quorky when next to cover, since the half part that is exposed will shoot but the other half that is by cover will only hit the cover. All in all though, the proc chance is alright along with the proc chance for bleed impact and all of that is pretty damned good(and if modded right, elements to). Just the normal damage in itself besides those almost constant slash/impact/puncture procs, is a bit underwhelming.2: The secondary fire is interesting, but I've still yet to FULLY understand it. As far as I know of, here are the things it possibly has attached to it V 2A: Its secondary bubble mechanic can be used as a shield, as far as I know of, anyway. It has happened a couple of times, while it can be a bit wonky, you can go inside of the bubble and you can't get hit from enemies while you shoot out at them(Melee from enemies can also hit the bubble, meaning they can move it away from you, so only ranged is blocked technically)2B: It appears, if you shoot through the bubble it enhances the projectiles crit chance. I can't confirm this directly, but it has occasionally happened to me, and to some others.2C: It can be hit with melee, while unpredictable, can be hit towards crowds if done right(damned RNG! WHY YOU NO LET ME HIT BUBBLE IN DIRECTION!!!?!?!?!?)2D: The bubbles explosion can do radiation procs along with the current elements you have on your weapon, the shooting of the bubble(enemies must pass through the bubble or graze it to cause an instant 100% radiation proc), only seems to cause PURE radiation damage instead of taking the affect of your currently applied elements. Although the explosion takes the element in affect, though.2E: The bubble is affected by multishot. Is that if you put a max multishot on it, and you fire, it'll fire both bubbles inside of eachother, and when it stops, one bubble explodes while the other is still there(correct me if I am wrong, but this has happened to me on MANY occasions!) and you can fire one more bubble(doesn't make two bubbles, since one is already out, sadly).IF I MISSED ANY PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO TELL ME PLEASE! 3: As a continuation for the 2nd one, the bubble is underwhelming yet interesting in its own concept. The reinforcement video was misleading, to a point where I watch it and think the secondary fire is totally different then what we see here. In the video, I will highlight one part of it, is that whoever was playing shot the bubble at the ground, infested chased it and started attacking it. I thought "Whoa! It grabs aggro!?", which would've been pretty awesome if it did, but as I said, it was misleading. The damage the explosion does is alright in itself, but the damage the bubble does is mediocre and the mechanics backing it up don't give me enough incentive to want to use it often. But I do anyway, because its a giant infested beach ball, how can I say no?TL;DR> I like it, but I dislike it. The fun in the gun makes me use it, not because of its damage or anything else. I'll keep using it for its giggles and cool effects, but as I said, it does need improvement. Edited June 22, 2014 by Nelizar
